This in my opinion is the best of the two TS808 mods. It is a lot more transparent than the other, which is better for using the boost trick (level full drive on nil) and it has a pretty good sound when used as an overdrive. Not to say the other mod isn't good, or that being transparent is the best thing, the other mod sounds just as good when used as an overdrive, but not as good as a boost. The main difference, and I'm sorry because I'm using very subjective terms here, is that this one is more transparent.

Kevin's Mod
You will need:

• RC4558p Texas chip x 1
• 8-pin chip socket (for swapping out different chips) x 1
• 100-ohm resistor (brown-black-brown-gold) x 1
• 10k-ohm resistor (brown-black-orange-gold) x 1
• 0.1uf metal film (or similar) capacitors x 2

Optional:

• 51pf ceramic capacitor
• On/On SPDT switch if you want to change between the ceramic capacitor
  and the standard diode

Replacing Components

• Desolder the existing chip and replace with the chip socket
• Insert chip into socket, make sure you wear surgical gloves or touch something metal to avoid static damage to the chip. Make sure you orient it correctly (see below)
• Remove R17 > replace with 10k resistor (brown-black-orange-gold)
• Remove R16 > replace with 100 Ohm resistor (brown-black-brown-gold)
• Remove C2 > Replace with 0.1uF capacitor
• Remove C3 > Replace with 0.1uF capacitor

Optional:

• Remove D6 > Replace with 51pF ceramic capacitor - this will give you symetrical clipping
• If you want this on a switch you can wire it like this:

Make sure that the diode is the right way arround, make sure the side with the black stripe goes to the same point as the purple wire is or the diode won't work. It is easy to tell because diodes D5 and D4 also have the black stripe. The green wire goes to the other terminal.
