First of all I'd like to thank Brian for letting me use his mod, check out his site at http://www.indyguitarist.com/. Seccond of all, thanks to JackFuzz from guitargeek who is sending me his SD-1 so I can mod it and do some clips!

This mod mimics the sound of the Fulltone Fulldrive II which retails at $200US and £199 pounds. Pretty expensive ay? This mod is pretty easy but is supposed to sound fantastic!

What you will need:

• 0.022 uF capacitor x 2
• 0.1 uF capacitor x 1
• 2.2k resistor x 1
• Germainium Diode x 2 (I use these)
• 1n4001 diode x 3 (I used these)

Optional:

• Single in line socket
• Additional germainium diodes to swap out in the clipping section (the maximum you will need is three)
• Additional 1N4148 diodes to swap out in the clipping section (the maximum you will need is three)
• SPDT switch to toggle modes

Replacing Components

• Remove C2 > Replace with 0.022 uF capacitor
• Remove C3 > Replace with 0.1uF capacitor
• Remove C6 > Replace with 0.022uF capacitor
• Remove C10 > Replace with 1uF capacitor (film preferable)
• Remove R6 > Replace with 2K2 Ohm resistor
• Remove D5 > Replace with 1n4001 diode
• Remove D4, D6 and see next section

D4 and D6
D4 and D6 use a 1n4001 and a germainium diode in series, this means one after the other. I've asked about and some people say it does matter which way around they go if they were used in a larger project, but for this purpose the general feeling is that it wouldn't matter. Just wire one diode to the board, say the 1n4001, then wire the germainium to that and the other side of the germainium to the other side of the board. Like this:
