| It is Pacey's birthday and with every birthday in his past there has been a sort of curse. Will this year repeat the curse?? Joey assures Pacey that there will be no party for him, but she plans one with his family, blindfolds him, and leads him there. His dad gives a unwelcomed surprise when they walk through the door and everyone else missed it. Pacey is a little upset that his father sees it neccesary to put everyone down and his mother can't get Joey's name right. Pacey's favorite dish is Spaghetti and his mom thinks it is chipped beef on toast which he hates. Later into the evening, his parents start talking about the fact that Pacey isn't college material. His father is mad at Joey because now he will have to take out a second mortgage on his home. Pacey tries to tell Joey something all night, however he keeps getting interrupted. When it is time to open presents, Pacey is not to enthusiastic about the ashtray or the Fireworks from his father. Later in the evening, his family decides to recall their favorite memory of Pacey. One is when they almost left him at 31 flavors, one is of when he accidentally killed the dog and almost burnt down the house. Gretchen, trying to save Pacey, recalls the time she was in 5th grade and a bully pushed her off the swing at school and Pacey was only in 2nd grade, but he stood up to the bully. Pacey's dad quickly ruins the memory recalling how the bully trashed Pacey. As Pacey's father prepares to recall his, Pacey interrupts with the fact that he can't take anymore and that he won't be going to college because he didn't even get accepted into his fall back college choice. Pacey bolts and Dawson and Joey go looking for him. After a while, Dawson and Joey decide that they are out of places to look and they decide to head back to the house. Pacey's dad finds him because someone called in a strange person lurking on the dock. Pacey's father confides in him by telling Pacey that he wasn't accepted into the police accademy the first time he applied. Pacey's father tells him that while Pacey isn't meant for college, Pacey is meant to do great things in the world. Pacey's father finally gets to tell Pacey his favorite memory. His father tells him of the time when Pacey was 10 years old and his father gave him fireworks and they set them all off. He tells Pacey that he was happy because Pacey was happy. They head back and when they get home, they get a good surprise from everyone singing happy birthday with lit candles on the cake. Dawson and Gretchen have a few small problems, but things seem to be looking up for them when Pacey and Joey walk in on the two of them making out in the basement. Jen has to miss Pacey's birthday party because she has to finish up her community service. However she seems a lot happier when she ends up working with Tobey. They drive drunk people around all night so that the intoxicated people do not cause accidents. They drop in on Pacey's party just in time to catch Pacey bolting. Tobey smarts off to Jack again. Jen informs Tobey when they leave that she wants to make the designated driver thing a volunteer regular part of her life. She also tells Tobey that she knows he likes Jack and that if he wants anything to do with Jack he needs to be nice. This episode ends with Dawson and Gretchen deciding to be a couple and Pacey Joey and all of Paceys family happily watching Pacey's dad set off the fireworks for Pacey. |
