Waterfowl hunting in North Dakota is extremely good. If you are one that enjoys hunting ducks such as teal or gadwall, it should continue to be extrordinary hunting. My outlook on North Dakota goose hunting is questionable. I have no doubt that there are large numbers of geese, but they are proving to be hard to decoy. Add to this their recent tendancy to fly through the area quickly and you have a hit and miss situation. Nevertheless, you can bet we will be out there on opening day.
Most of the hunting we did last fall for Mallards was done by slough jumping. This involved long, painful belly crawls through grass, dirt, rocks, and sometimes water. It dosen't seem to matter how many times you get wet or scratched when you can hear the ducks on the water. I will write more later. Please e-mail me and let me know what you think or would like to know. Thank you for visiting my website.
10/02/2002 I have had very good luck duck hunting already this year. Mostly we are getting teals and some mallard. The snow geese are not yet in the area but should be here shortly if the weather stays cold.
