PRESIDENT’S AND TREASURER’S WORKSHOPS
Every fall workshops for presidents and treasurers are held.
The purpose is to assist them in their role as chief executives and understand
some of the responsibilities. This is also a great opportunitity to network, share common problems and solutions. At this year’s fall workshop, attendees expressed an interest to do this on a semi-annual basis.
SURVEY
The survey assists nursery school executives to plan fees, rents, salaries and benefits. The survey provides comparative data that keeps them in line with other nursery schools. It may also point out possible policy oversights. If you have any suggestions for future surveys, please e-mail [email protected]
FOR TEACHERS
Program exchange visits
OVCP feels that professional development for nursery school teachers is invaluable. We offer a Teacher Exchange Visit Program, where teachers are encouraged to visit other nursery schools and their schools are given financial assistance to make this possible.
Please contact the OVCP for a list of schools who have indicated that they are interested in hosting other teachers. Each school is responsible for contacting a participating school of your choice and arrange the visit.
The OVCP will reimburse your supply teacher costs for the day that your teacher was not at her regular program.
DIE CUTTER AND LAMINATOR
The OVCP at 250 Holland, rm. 212 has a small die cutter and some small dies. The office is open Wed. evenings, 6:00-9:00 PM. Tel: 722-1136. There are numbers, puppets, and some seasonal dies (turkey, apple, pumpkin, Christmas tree, ornament, snowflake gingerbread men). Small fee $2.00 for members per half-hour. Our die cutter can be rented out - $20.00 member. However, it must be picked up at 9:00 one Wed., and returned at opening time the next Wed., (5 p.m. or 6:00 p.m.). It is very heavy and awkward – but an incredible deal if you can make the arrangements and have lots of muscles. Laminating is also available here.
Please see Doreen Cowin’s newsletter about the great craft ideas and games using die cutters.
