Forever

Ryoma would hate it if everything lasted forever. He likes some people and he likes Ponta and tennis and Karupin, and the last thing are the only three things that he’ll ever really need, but really. He can only take so much of Ponta before wanting a simple glass of water, and tennis was never his first passion. (tennis is life not passion ryoma plays because he won’t do anything else can’t)

The movie he watches is substandard at best, the animated monsters cheap and tacky. He’s never seen Tokyo Tower cracked in half before, but he’s certain it wouldn’t look like Styrofoam breaking. The popcorn is buttery and salty and he dislikes buttered popcorn anyway, but Karupin is purring on his lap and his fur is warm. Ryoma’s fingers are tangled in the soft strands as he rubs his cat gently in the spots it likes best, and Karupin rubs against his stomach, eyes half-closed in pleasure.

And there is Fuji-sempai beside him, whose smile never wavers and once in a while Ryoma catches sight of blue eyes and he always looks away quickly.

Ryoma would hate forever, but he thinks he wouldn’t mind if this moment never ended.
