Clifford W. Leathers was born on February 15,
1929 at Erick, Oklahoma.

As a boy he grew up along the foot hills of Lefore
county, Oklahoma. His father purchased land from
the Five Civilized Tribes near the present day town of Muse, Oklahoma but was known at the time as Pine Valley, Oklahoma.Their land was located along
the Kiamichi river at the foot hills of "Winding Stair
Mountains" (Deed in Possession of Mike Leathers)

Pine Valley, Oklahoma was a sawmill town and
as a teenage boy he worked at the sawmill during the 1940's. While a bit younger, He and his cousin
Carl Hill spent all day climbing the mountain that
overviewed their home place. Spending the night on
top of the mountain, "the two of us nearly froze to
death" ( Clifford W. Leathers, March, 2000 )...

John M. Leathers his grandfather, as Published by
the Kansas City, Times ( April 11, 1882 ) lived on the property as well. It was untamed lands during
the 1870s and 1880s many of the wanted outlaws traveled the lands of southeast Oklahoma, camping along the Kiamichi river, and hills of the "Winding Stair Mts"....

His father Clarence Leathers worked as Security
Police officer for the Pine Valley sawmill during the early 1930s to early 1940s.
