The Drinker

A drinker, not a thinker

abuser a loser

addicted, restricted 

booted, banned

doesn't seem to give a damn

Family's left, children unseen

drinking is his only dream 

Eyes glazed, mind dazed

uncontrollable maze

unchangeable ways

 Freeloader, beggar

 overpowering persistence

Lend me ten

lend me twenty

only got five, that should be plenty

"I'll pay you back"

the famous line

with no intensions 

people are blind

works almost every time

Often times didn't go well

looking though a jailhouse cell

drying out, fines to pay

city's gift a bunk to lay

living only day to day

Loss of jobs

 loss of rights

gotta get some booze tonight

hitch a ride into town

cannot let my body down

Need to drink

 put on a show

be the center of attention

even if it means detention

Life is good

couldn't be better

there's a fish at the bar

maybe even has a car

What the hell

I have no pride

I'll sit down by his side

maybe later go for a ride
