Born in East Rockingham, NC, Jim moved to New Bern, NC after a stint with the US Army during the Vietnam era. While in Newbern, he became involved with the popular southern gospel group, Four In Christ. He toured with the group several years before becoming road weary and tired and eventually left them. .
He returned to Richmond County a few years later and settled in to raise his family. Upon being approched by Jack, he decided Outback would be a good outlet for his creative talent.
Drawing upon his experience in gospel, Jim handles most of the song arrangements, concentrating on strong vocal harmonys wherever possible.
