| Born and raised in Rockingham, Arthur has been around musicians all his life. Coming from a musical family, he considers his grandparents his biggest musical influences. Beginning with the piano at 9 years of age and guitar soon after, he could often be found playing with songriter Dorsey Dixon, writer of such Roy Acuff classics a Wreck On The Highway and Two Little Rosebuds. At 16, he had learned the mandolin and began playing with bands such as the Carolina Hillbillies and the Bartoneres appearing on regional radio and Television shows and often with bands that opened for Del Reeves and Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. He also played in Randy Travis's band before Randy became internationally known. While music was always a big part of his life, Artur also worked in the local cotton mills and did construction work to pay the bills. Now retired, he welcomes the chance to continue his lifelong affair with music. |
