The surrounding area

Eddie was born and raised in this area.  He spent a big part of his childhood hunting, fishing, and scouting the local area for miles around.  His knowledge of the local area and the game is unsurpassed.  He's always glad to share his expediencies with you,  Some of them are almost believable (ha ha).  Even while he worked at General Motors in St. Louis he   continually returned to the area to float the Big Piney and Current Rivers.  Most deer and turkey seasons found him at his cabin near the old homestead enjoying whatever season was open at the time.  After 30 yeas as a proud UAW member of GM he retired and now lives here and operates the Outback Bar and Grill.  He has much more time to peruse his favorite pastimes now and would like you to come and enjoy them as well.   We have provided the following links to help you see what the surrounding area has to offer.  Feel free to contact us and we will do all we can to assist you.  We really look forward to you visiting the area and enjoying some of the most spectacular natural beauty anywhere.

Licking is located in the northern foot hills of what is referred to as the Ozark Mountains.  We are centrally located in an area that offers some of the best hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation in the state.

A few miles to the east is Montauk State Park which offers some of the best Trout fishing available.  It has a fish hatchery, and an old restored Mill that was built in the mid to late 1800's.  It is situated on the headwaters of the Current River.  This is part of the National Scenic River ways,  a Federal Government program that insures the Current River will remain a pristine treasure for future generations.

A few miles to the west is Piney River, one of the few rivers in the nation that actually flows North.  The Piney river  is fed by countless natural springs and flows through some of the most majestic scenery in the State.

If you yearn to get back to nature then you will find no better spot than this area.  With hundreds of thousands of acres of Mark Twain National Forest and an almost equal amount of Missouri Department of Conservation land holdings there is an abundance of hiking, camping, nature watching, and hunting available,  most of it free to the public.

If you enjoy nature, friendly people, and a laid back lifestyle then you could find no place better than the Licking area.  And While you're in the area be sure to stop by the Outback Bar and Grill for good food, good company, and a thirst quencher.  We would really like to meet you and lend whatever assistance we can to make your visit an enjoyable experience.

We look forward to meeting you.
