Press Release Date: September 7, 2000 This second annual production, again featuring the OKC Metro-Men's and OKC Metro-Women's choruses and various local soloists, will present music from composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter, Lorenz Hart and Stephen Sondheim, and from such noted musicals as "The Lion King," "Rent," and "When Pigs Fly." Don Clothier, Artistic Director of the Men's and Women's Choruses, and member of the OutArt Board of Directors, said, "We're looking forward to this year's program even more that last year's. The Broadway theme has provided us with an especially exciting focus, besides just being one of our favorite types of music. So far, we have medleys from "West Side Story" and "Little Shop of Horrors" as well as tunes from "Beauty and the Beast" and "Les Miserables." OutArt will co-host a
non-juried art show during the month of October at Border's Books and Music.
The Borders show will be open to any gay, lesbian and transgender artists.
The deadline for submitting art is Sept. 29. Those wishing to participate should
call Mark Maxey at The Juried Art Show will be held at the IAO gallery and that deadline is Sept. 20. The Juried art show will allow those entering to be judged by an International pair of jurors which will definitely help the artists, Maxey stated. "So with the IAO show and the Border show many gay, lesbian and transgender artists will be seen during the month of October. We are very excited about that, " Maxey said. Patrick Riley and Richard Ray Whitman will be 2 of the jurors for the IAO show which opens October 6, 2000. OutArt 2000- Oklahoma's Gay
and Lesbian Arts Festival will be offering two preview performances of their
upcoming festival this October. Previews will include skits from the theatre
show, "Tails From The Closet" and musical highlights performed by the
Metro Men's Chorus and Metro Women's chorus along with discussion of the movies
that'll be shown at the festival. The preview performances will be performed
Saturday, Sept. 30 at Diversity The OutArt committee invites
everyone to join them and find out what they have planned for the gay community
at this year's festival. The festival runs from Oct. 13 through Oct. 16. For
