The Board of Directors of OUTART has announced the dates for this year's art, film, music and theater festival. The dates will be October 13-16, 2000.
This year's festival promises to be larger and more diverse than last year's.
"The response from last year's festival was overwhelming. The turnout was much higher than expected and we anticipate a significant increase this year," Tony Francis said.
Last year's festival was the first time Oklahomans were able to see and celebrate the gay and lesbian community arts.
"Currently we are finalizing the movies that will be shown, writers are hard at work on Tails from the Closet II, however, the director is still looking for writers who have a desire to include a 5 minute sketch. The OKC Metro Men's and Women's choruses will again anchor the music and are seeking talented soloists to spotlight. Finally, several artists have already signed up for their work to be exhibited and more are being sought," said Francis.
The board is currently requesting that any Artists, Actors, Musical Soloists or Writers contact OUTART at 405-752-2762.
"We need volunteers to help with the logistics of the festival. Although we have had a great response for volunteers, many more are needed.
"The Board still has room for new members who would like to make more of a commitment to the success of the festival," board member Mark Maxey said. "Our particular needs are in the areas of graphic arts, event managing, and art curator talent."
