Screaming Whispers
by Iggy Benavente

For much silence has engulfed me,
It binds my lips together,
So much to say, but with no words to express it,
I am in search of the meaning to things.

In my mind the words swim constantly,
They endlessly churn and pain me,
My lips part, but only a whisper escapes,
Will no one hear these screaming whispers.

With such love to give, no one is there to accept,
With so much pain, nother is there to soothe it,
Kept in the darkness like a vile secret,
I am in search of the meaning of things.

All around echo the words of Freedom,
Straining to be heard and touched by Peace,
There shackled Justice lies in wait,
Will no one hear these screaming whispers.

If not left but to utter a whisper, let it sound like a horn,
Let everyone hear the pain of passing years,
It is then all is a beautiful, sweet Light,
I am in search of the meaning to things,
Will no one hear these screaming whispers.
