Forbidden are a semi-melodic thrash band which formed in the Bay area in the '80s.  Their members have left to join other bands.  Guitarist Rob Flynn left to form Vio-lence, then Machine Head.  Paul Bostaph eventually left to join Slayer.  Though Forbidden have remained unknown to many of the ignorant people, their music is truly one of a kind.
Forbidden Evil (Combat) 1988

1. Chalice of Blood
2. Off the Edge
3. Through the Eyes of Glass
4. Forbidden Evil
5. March into Fire
6. Feel No Pain
7. As Good as Dead
8. Follow Me

Forbidden's first release is extatic.  I love the melodic guitar riffs, back up bass sound, Paul Bostaph's drumming, and Russ Anderson's vocals are impressive.  They sound very similar to
Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson.  Forbidden are very unusual for a Bay Area thrash band, as they are very melodic and very harmonic.  The vocals are often intonnating with the guitars and the sound is absolutely incredible.  Sadly, Forbidden were overlooked by many of the Bay Area thrash fans, as bands like Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer overshadowed them.  However, this album is truly a classic and Forbidden are a great band.  It's just too bad that when they were recognized, the music wasn't "in" anymore.  Fucking grunge.
