Sloth (MDD) 1998 1. Harmonies in Black 2. No More Confidence 3. Regression 4. Not to Deny 5. Separate 6. Retaliation Breed 7. Parts of Peril 8. Virtual 9. Streams of Perfection One word sums up this band: WOW! Blackend are a killer thrash metal band from one of the best manufacturers of the genre, Germany. Blackend present a raw and unique sound to the genre, especially in the late '90s. The songwriting is original, technical, and melodic, keeping their own unique sound while at the same time emulating a sound similar to that of ...And Justice for All era Metallica. For people looking for a new band to the dying genre, this is a band to check out, especially for the first two tracks. I picked up all three of their albums off of ebay for $10. Great deal. 'Sloth' is my favorite Blackend album so far.

Mental. Game. Messiah (Massacre) 2000 1. Eye of the Observer 2. Detect the Crack 3. Mental. Game. Messiah. 4. Burn the Fuse 5. Beyond Forever 6. Liquid Surroundings (instrumental) 7. Freezing the Skin 8. Save our Souls 9. Scars Can't Tell 10. As the Sun Remains Disc two from the Deutscheland thrashers, 'Mental' picks up right where 'Sloth' left off, musicwise. Speedwise, the band have slowed it down a notch while keeping the lyrics and melodies tight. "Freezing the Skin" is my personal favorite of the album and the rest is just as good. Had these guys been around in the '90s, they would most definately have ruled the scene, along with their brethren Kreator and Destruction. Since we live in a musically bland time for thrash, much of our ignorant non-metal (and even our fellow metal) lovers don't appreciate the music.
The Last Thing Undone (Massacre) 2001 1. The Last Thing Undone 2. I am the Chosen One 3. The More I Lie 4. Long Now (instrumental) 5. Excluded the Included 6. Darkest Day 7. The Die is Cast 8. Battle Between Minds Blackend's third disc and most progressive yet. They seem to be following the trend of Testament and Metallica with their sound, which isn't a bad thing at all, however this is the disc I have listened to the least from Blackend. With thrash on the continuing downward spiral, Blackend are refining their sound as they go along, which for them is probably for the better. The self titled track is probably my favorite from the album.
