Autopsy are a death/gore metal band which is basically a continuation of the orignal Scream Bloody Gore Death.  Autopsy are the brainchild of Jeff Reifert, the drummer from Scream Bloody Gore.  Obviously he had some of the knack behind the gore lyrics in that album, as the albums of Death became less gory as he went along (significantly from his departure).  Sadus/Death bassist Steve Digiorgio had a hand in helping Autopsy on an occasion or two in the 90's.

The main reason I purchased this album was not only the price (2.99), but also because I wanted to hear what Jeff Reifert (of
Death fame) had to offer after his departure from the band.  While Autopsy are a death metal band to the T, they aren't as speedy as their predecessor Death were.  A lot of the time the music will slow down to a grindy or doomy riff, with all of the vocals about gore still intact.  I must say I'm not too much of a fan of the more gory death metal, but I suppose Autopsy are all right.  I'd've rather have purchased a studio album (which I probably will later on), but this will do for now.  If you like gore metal, you'll like Autopsy.
