We are Bryan and Ruth Crousore of Statesville, NC. We are the owners of Our Rabbits R People Too! Rabbitry. Eventhough we have only been raising and showing rabbits for a few short years now, we have put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this project to make it a win -win situation for not only ourselves, our customers, and our friends, but firstly and foremost for the rabbits that we have and intend to have.
We believe at the heart of our operation is the rabbit. That individual creature who is not just a rabbit, but part of our family. If you would like to become a customer, we would like to know that you accept the responsibility of bringing a new member into your family. If we don't feel that you will accept this responsibility, we will under no circumstances, sell you one of our babies (whether it is a baby or adult you are looking at - they are all our babies!).
Love in a rabbit's life is as important as any physical need such as food, water, and shelter. The mental health of a rabbit is the key to a long, happy, healthy life. Our standards and code of ethics is what separates us from most breeders not only of rabbits but also of most any other animal out there.
Education is key to your knowing whether you really want a rabbit in your household or not. (Just because he/she is in your household, does not mean they have to live in your home. Rabbits, however, can be potty trained just like a cat or dog and can live sensibly in your home provided they have their own space.) Although they like love and attention, they also like their quiet time away. Every rabbit has a different personality and knows most always what they want, when they want it, and how they are going to get it.
We are available for help and/or information regarding rabbits, showing or shows, or just general rabbit talk 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We do, however, request that if you call between 12 am and 9 am that you give us time to get woke up before we answer serious questions.
We strive to and commit ourselves to our rabbits and rabbitry and to excellence in customer service. To that end, we believe that anyone who does not want or cannot afford to take care of a rabbit that you bought from us should be stuck with that rabbit. We do not want to sell a rabbit to someone who will get tired of or forget about the rabbit. A rabbit is a lifetime commitment. Flemish Giants have a life expectancy of 5-10+ years; however, just like humans, they can exceed the lifetime expectancy. If you cannot commit yourself for this period of time, please do not purchase a rabbit. NO IMPULSE BUYS PLEASE. In the event of unexpected circumstances and you are no longer able to care for the rabbit you puchased from our rabbitry, rather than turn him/her loose to fend for themselves, or take some other drastic measure, CONTACT US FIRST. We will buy your baby back within reasonable circumstances for the original purchase price. If you breed one of our rabbits and then return it, chances are the full original purchase price will not be honored. This policy is not intended to supply would be breeders with free breeding stock. This policy is intended only to save our rabbits from neglect and/or abuse and to prove that we only want sincerely interested customers. The rabbit must come first!
