| 1 I have met Suan of Inanna recently and she has the same eyes The reason we bumped into each other again in the first place was because i recognise her eyes from a photo i saw of her and arranged to meet 2 The name Suan means Little wife of Marduk in akkadian A little too much knowledge for someone bought up in southern england This is true. Suan is not her real name but her private name that she has always called herself by. It later turns out that in babylonian akkadian Suan means "little wife of Marduk". It is a pun or play on words upon the name Surpitana, who was the goddess wife of the Great God Bel Marduk. This sort of word game was a long standing tradition in babylon. 3 She was born on the festival of Innana (january 2nd). another astounding coincedence that she was Born on the day that traditionally is the Birthdate of Inanna the goddess of love. New Year in babylon is at the end of march 4 Suan remembers me as i remember her. The first words out of her mouth that first day we met again were not "hello pleased to meet you" i was equally spellbound as all that had past flooded back into place 5 We share common memories from before our respective birthdays We both remember what it was like to lead a different life as a different person and the sights and sounds of a city that has been buried under silt in southern Iraq for millenia 6 She's still into the same loves and pecadillos she always was. No comment. except that she doesn't like honey very much 7 She's comfortable with her sexuality and not repressed by christianity She's not your average Christian girl and she has an ancient world mentality 8 In Babylon the area in which Esagilia (Marduk temple) can be found is Called Suanna Suanna is once again a babylonian play on the names Surpitana and Inanna. it was where we lived in 1600bce (see map) |
