Charlie Riehm
Norcross City Councilman
Just Who Is Charlie Riehm?
Engineer, Manager, Former Naval Officer, Community Activist, Family Man, Councilman
Charlie Riehm has 30+ years in management roles (15 in senior positions) in the challenging high-tech environment--famous for its fast pace, fierce competition, high-$ decisions and  multiple personality types. He moved often, as did many in this industry, and companies included Harris Corp., Bell Labs, AT&T, Hayes Microcomputer and a few  in California. He is currently founder and partner in two small, local start-ups, where he manages design projects.

Charlie has managed engineering, marketing, and manufacturing operations, often with profit-and-loss responsibility, which gave him broad and diverse experience. He believes his best skills include gathering facts to analyze problems, active listening, and a proven ability to build working teams out of diverse groups. These skills are precisely those needed to address the challenges facing Norcross today. There is no real difference in business and government when it comes to working with people to resolve problems!

Charlies military service included Naval ROTC at Notre Dame, then four years of service as an officer on the staff of Admiral Hyman Rickover, who was responsible for development of our nuclear Navy.

His education includes a BS at Notre Dame and an MS at Purdue in electrical engineering, plus a Navy MS-level course in nuclear reactor engineering, and then an MBA at Fairleigh-Dickinson University. These were followed by numerous management training courses at the above companies.

He has been an activist (per the AJCs Rick Badie) in addressing Norcross issues for the past five years, and a councilman for the past two years.  He is a regular volunteer for the
Norcross Art Fest and Historic Holiday Home Tour.  For relaxation, Charlie enjoys playing tennis and working at keeping his historic house in downtown Norcross in good repair. He has been married to Edie for fourteen years, has four grown children, and now has five grandchildren.
