James Christopher MOORE  &  Martha Jane RAMPY-MOORE

James Christopher MOORE was the son of Elijah MOORE and Barbara Jane CHEATHAM BARBER MOORE.

On December 21, 1850, James Christopher married Martha Jane RAMPY in Randolph County, Alabama. They and their seven children came from Alabama to Bell County, Texas, in the spring of 1872, settling between Holland and Salado. Three more children were born after they came to Bell County.

James Christopher MOORE had served in the Civil War for three years, enlisting on March 11, 1862, at Rock Mills, Randolph County, Alabama. He served with the 5th Battalion (calvary), Company B, with Brigadier General M.H. Chrysler commanding.

After coming to Bell County, Texas, James Christopher MOORE, was a successful farmer and owned several hundred acres of land around and between Holland and Salado. His home was about five miles east of Salado, and Moore's Corner was a well-known point between the two towns.

Martha Jane RAMPY MOORE was born in Woodland, Alabama. After her marriage to James Christopher MOORE they lived near Woodland until their move to Bell County, Texas. She and James Christopher MOORE were buried at Holland Cemetery, Holland, Texas.
