Patience Jane STRICKLAND DePRIEST moved from Fishertown (Eufaula, OK) to Bixby, Oklahoma after the death of her husband, Alexander D. DePRIEST in 1902. Her great grand daughters, Nellie CALL and Gracie CALL ( From Patience� son: Thomas James DePRIEST and James' daughter Pearl Lee DePRIEST CALL) are buried in the same small private cemetery (Sanger Cemetery) near Bixby, Oklahoma.
Her gravestone is marked "Patience DePRIST - Born: 1819 - Died: Sept 18 1904" The spelling is the same as her husband who is buried at Fishertown (Eufaula, Oklahoma) "A.D. DePRIST". This is the only spelling of DePRIEST seen or found in the family.
Some feel it was a mistake made by the maker of the tombstone for Alexander and repeated on the tombstone of Patience. You can see where the stone carver ran out of space for the spelling of DePRIEST on Alexander's grave stone.
All other DePRIEST tombstones including, all their children and all of the DePRIEST'S buried in the family plot at Fishertown Cemetery immediately surrounding the "A.D. DePRIST" grave spell the name DePRIEST. Alexander's father spelled the name DePRIEST.
Note: Patience' Tombstone indicates she was born in 1819 not June 1825 as seen in most research.
