Sept. 17, 1961 ~ April 10,1969

Dear Duvien,
Well my angel, tomorrow it will be 34 years since you
became an angel. It was the worst day of my life.
Don't get me wrong, I have had many bad days since
you left, like the birthdays, holidays, and other
milestones that came and went throughout the years
without you. But I have had good days too..

You will be forever seven in my mind's eye.
It took many years for me to get where I am
today. I still miss you terrible, and often wonder
how my life and the lives of your brother and sister
would have been different if you had lived.
Undoubtly all of our lives would have been better
because of your presence. At least I had you for seven
years, and I would not exchange that time for the pain
I endured when you died...

I am thinking of you and remembering all the delicious
memories I have of you. One day when I was pregnant
with your sister, I was with your grandpa, and I was
sad. He asked what was wrong and I told him I was
feeling sorry for the new baby because I loved you so
much that I would not be able to love the new baby,
there just would not be enough love to go around. Your
wise grandpa said to just give it a chance and if I did
not love the new baby, he would take care of her. A few
months later grandpa was watching me and you and the new
baby and said, "hey, remember the conversation we had a
while back? Wanna give me the baby?" We had a good laugh
over that one, silly me!

Then I was pregnant with your baby brother and oh the
joy even though it was bittersweet. I knew I could never
replace you, however, I also knew I had enough love to
go around. The new baby looked so much like you it was
like two peas in a pod, but I knew from the beginning
he was not you. You were you, and he is himself, and you
will always be my special angel..
I love you Baby!
All my love
All my life
With all my heart
Love, Mom
P.S. Say hi to grandpa, Okay?

Memories are a treasure
Of our special yesterdays,
That help us with all of our tomorrows..

Though distance may come
between a Mother and her child...
The bond that keeps them close,
The love they share..
Is never more than a memory away...

Sometimes Love is for a moment
Sometimes love is for a lifetime
Sometimes a minute is a lifetime.
