My name is Jackie. I have three daughters, one son, and a precious grand-daughter. I am a Taurus, and yes, I’m bull-headed. I’m also very "well grounded", or so I’m told. Kind of amazing when you consider that I am a Taurus, a redhead, half German, and a postal worker! Currently, I am a letter carrier for Canada Post. Since 1990 I have worked in Operations and in Retail also. I have become known to my canine friends along my route as "The Cookie Lady". To my friends I am also known as "Ourladyposte". My leisure time activities include crosswords, jigsaws, walking, going out dancing, bargain hunting, entering contests and listening to music. I have an appreciation of all kinds of music, anything from AC/DC to Zamfir, but I prefer heavy rock and dance mix. I particularly like Bon Jovi, Collective Soul, Mike Oldfield, Enya, U2, Metallica, Linkin Park, Simple Plan, most '80's metal bands, and many of the new and upcoming bands on 94X radio. My favorite places to be are at a rock concert, cruisin' with the tunes cranked, on a beach soaking up the sun with a good book, or on a road trip!! Even better when I can do all this with my kids. Memorable
concerts: Trooper '86; Metallica '98 mosh pit; Tea Party 2002; Def Leppard and Tom Cochrane
2003; Sum 41 and Billy Talent 2004 mosh pits; I have a fascination with words and language itself. I’ve been collecting little sayings, quotes, and poems since high school. I started with some little sayings that were in my workbooks at private school. From then on, my sources were endless. I saved anything that was touching or inspirational in some way. I had a book full of these things, but whenever I lent this book to friends, I had a hard time getting it back. So the idea of a website to share these compilations was born. I will be the first to admit that I’m far from perfect. I was a teen mom. I’ve weathered divorce and had my fair share of heartaches learning my lessons in life. My website is my outlet to share things that mean a lot to me in hopes that this may help someone else who is going through similar life's troubles. My experiences have given me a twisted sense of humor, which will become apparent. Despite this, there is some level of intelligence somewhere in here. :) With my spunky type of personality I usually am a cheering committee, all on my own, for friends who are down. Depression sucks... I know... I've been there a couple times with things I have been through. It is hard to get out of it, too. My advice, as hard as it may seem: find a friend you trust, or a professional if you have to, someone to talk to. Talking helps. Depression affects not only yourself, but also those around you. In the end, you are the only one who can get yourself out of it. You need to love yourself and pamper yourself... and eventually there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. "Take my hand, we'll make it I swear, Livin' on a Prayer" ~Bon Jovi
I have had a few fears in my
life such as being afraid of being on stage, being
afraid of heights, and of confined
spaces. So I faced these fears head on through modeling, skydiving, and scuba
diving. I also joined Toastmasters International in February 2005. This is a
great opportunity to get over fear of talking in front of people. June 2006 I
was elected as Sergeant at Arms for our group. I set up meetings and
introduced the Chairperson. Before I leave this world I
want to learn to play the drums, and race a race car, travel to see
castles, and who knows
what else yet... so keep checking back for updates. My kids bought a drum set for
me for Christmas 2004. I finally took some lessons in March 2006.
An ex-boyfriend (Eric T.) once told me that I am like a forget-me-not flower, I leave a good impression on those who meet me. I hope that becomes apparent through your tour of my site. ~Jackie
