My Birth StoryBeing born is very stressful, here is my tale of how it happened.
On Sunday evening (June 25) after dinner, Mommy started feeling little pains in her tummy. She ignored them for a while, because I wasn't due for another week. They went about their usual routine, Kayla had her bath and kissed Mommy and Daddy good-night. She went to bed, and Mommy started wondering if the pains in her tummy would go away soon. They didn't, and Mommy decided to call the hospital for more details about false labour. She was told that false labour could last as long as 12 hours, so she decided to wait before making any plans. At about 10 o'clock p.m., she knew the pains were getting stronger, and Daddy phoned a family friend to be on stand-by, in case they needed her to come baby-sit Kayla. By 11, Mommy was pretty sure it was the real thing, so our friend came over with an overnight bag and stayed with Kayla for the night. Mommy and Daddy went to the hospital, and the nurses hooked Mommy up to a monitor which told them I was fine and Mommy's contractions were 4 minutes apart. The nurse then checked Mommy and found that her cervix was dilated between 3 and 4 centimeters (whatever that means!). They brought Mommy to a room, and they began waiting for me. Mommy breathed through her contractions, and the pains were so bad, she had Daddy ring the nurse for some pain relief. Just at that moment though, the nurse was coming in with the doctor who wanted to check Mommy. The doctor found that Mommy was ready to give birth to me! So the nurses rushed around preparing everything for me, and the doctor instructed Mommy to start pushing. After 5 minutes of Mommy's pushing, I made my way into the world. I was very healthy and scored 9-9 on my Agpar tests. I weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and was 52 centimeters long. I was awfully bored in Mommy's tummy and I couldn't wait to get out. I came a week early and Mommy's labor lasted 5 hours, she says it was very quick for her. I like being outside more, and although it's louder and brighter, I enjoy the company of my family.
