Sometimes people criticize the way these groups are moderated.
On the one hand, this is to be expected in groups such as these. Opinions are welcomed, and our subscribers have demonstrated that they certainly have their share of opinions.
On the other hand, there is no question that their criticism may be justified.
Moderators of online groups rarely claim to have taken courses in moderating or facilitating forums. Moderators gain their experience on the job. Some learn better than others.
As a result, it is to be expected that not every subscriber will feel that the moderator has done his job well.
Yet, the groups survive.
Granted, criticism is rare, and it usually comes when somebody leaves after the group did not go in the direction that they wanted. Since the person is no longer part of the group, there may be less of an incentive to make the changes that were requested.
People who really care do not quit. They try to implement justified and justifiable changes. Those are the best members of the group.
Quitters, on the other hand, are soon forgotten.
