They're annoying, and LOTS of people around the world will receive that annoying message.
Your test message won't prove anything. Either you receive messages or you don't. Whether you do or don't receive the test message won't prove anything about your previous message.
Your e-mail address may have been on Bouncing status when you sent your message. That status may have been corrected later on. You can check your status in your My Groups page.
How do you know whether your own messages go through? You can either check the group Messages page, or else the next time that you send a real message to the group, you'll discover whether you receive it.
