Our Jewish Groups
Guidelines
MultiplePostings

We sometimes receive requests to post important items on as many groups as possible. However, our groups are restricted to specific issues. The importance of any issue does not change the nature, character, or direction of a group.

Furthermore, many of our subscribers belong to a number of groups. They should not have to read the same message twice.

The same guideline applies to items that are posted on any group other than our Jewish and Hebrew Groups. Subscribers who post items in our groups as well as any other groups risk being removed from our group.

Consideration.

These guidelines may frustrate some people, but they show respect and consideration for our subscribers. Although you may believe that an important document or message should be shared with all other subscribers, they might disagree. They subscribed to the group based on a particular description. Your document does not necessarily match that description.

These guidelines also protect you from unwanted, irrelevant or lengthy material that would be posted by others.

Fairness.

As the moderator of these groups, I sometimes have to be the bad guy and to refuse items that do not meet these criteria. Please make my job a bit easier. Don't post items that violate our guidelines.

Let's be fair to all of our subscribers. These guidelines are reasonable. Let's abide by them.

Brief references.

Feel free to quote a URL (Internet address) so that other subscribers can look up a source for themselves. You may also briefly quote or paraphrase another source in order to prove an assertion. However, be sure to give a complete reference, so that others can easily verify its correctness, validity, and context.

Unavailable sources.

You may translate and post a very brief representative segment - just a few words - from Jewish religious texts that have no available English text, Of course, the regular guidelines apply if the document has been translated to English.

References.

Although we do not post the quoted materials from any other group, we cheerfully include references, Internet addresses, or URLs from other sites or groups.
