Technical problems with e-mail
My posting hasn't shown up on the group. What can I do?
Be patient. Each posting is reviewed (moderated) before it is sent to the list. After the moderator approves your message, it has to go through complex computer software operations. This sometimes slows down the mail.
If a few days go by with no sign of your post, then write to and ask whether there's a problem. Include as much information as you can about your original posting. If nothing has happened after a week, and if your message is still relevant, then it's probably reasonable to post it again.
Sometimes the moderator's Internet Service Provider plays tricks on him - just as your ISP does to you from time to time. That may mean a delay in the e-mail, or even a lost item. Please be patient.
I'm not getting any mail from the group. What's wrong?
Well, it might mean that no one is posting anything. If you have something to say, then post it and start up the discussion again. Do not send a "test message" to the list. The other subscribers will not want to receive junk mail.
It's perfectly reasonable for a list to be dormant for long periods between bursts of traffic. Even our exciting Jewish and Hebrew topics pause for a refreshing breath of air from time to time.
On the other hand, you may have been unsubscribed from the list, either because your mailbox was bouncing for too long, or as a result of a system error. You can find out easily by re-subscribing to the list. If you're already on the list, then you will receive a message with that information; if not, then you're back on the list and the problem is solved.
As a last resort, you can contact the moderator and ask about the problem.
