Our Jewish Groups
Help
Confidential

We do ask subscribers to use their real names and to identify themselves when posting messages.

This is even more important in our professional groups, so that we can identify the status and affiliation of the person sending messages.

However, there are exceptions to this guideline.

The need

Some of our sensitive or self-help groups can benefit people, but they may not want to reveal their identity.

Note that this is only the case for people requesting personal information, not for those offering information. Those offering information should always identify themselves clearly.

The solution

We have therefore set up a special confidential address, [email protected], to be used by those who want to post a specific issue without revealing their identity.

How to use it

Get in touch with the moderator and ask to use the confidential email address. You will be given the password. The moderator will probably change that password from the previous time that it was used.

Get into the email system by following the following steps in this order. It looks complicated, but it's really quite easy and straightforward.

  1. Click File on the menu at the top of this screen
  2. Click New from the drop-down menu
  3. Click Window from the next drop-down menu
  4. Click Edit on the menu at the top of this screen
  5. Click Copy from the drop-down menu
  6. Click on the Address bar at the top of this screen
  7. Click Edit on the menu at the top of this screen
  8. Click Paste from the drop-down menu
The following line will appear on that address bar:
    http://www.mail.com.
    Do not hit Enter
  9. Select the following line with your mouse:
  10. [email protected]
  11. Click Edit on the menu at the top of this screen
  12. Click Copy from the drop-down menu
  13. Click again on the email address that says http://www.mail.com at the top of the screen
  14. Click Enter
  15. A new screen will open up, from http://www.mail.com.
  16. Click on the line that says email address
  17. Click Edit on the menu at the top of this screen
  18. Click paste on the menu at the top of this screen
  19. Click on the line that says Password
  20. Click on the password that was sent to you by the moderator
  21. Click Enter
  22. When the screen changes, click on Compose Message
  23. In the line that says To: type the full name of the Jewish group. You might type [email protected] or [email protected] or another group, depending on the arrangements that you made with the moderator
  24. Type a relevant Subject: line
  25. Type out the problem in the Body of the email letter
  26. Click the rectangular Send button at the top or bottom of the screen

Your message has been posted to the group. You will be able to read the responses in your own email program, and not at [email protected].

Any additional postings can be made from [email protected]

Postings from [email protected] will be read by the group.

Postings to [email protected] will be read by the moderator, but you won't be able to read them.

Using this information

So why am I telling you this information? Simple: I want you to be able to avail yourself of the service. Only subscribers to our groups may use this address.

If you would like to use this address to post a confidential message to any of our sensitive or self-help groups, such as Siyyata, just contact the moderator.
