Jews have long understood the importance of doing good for and helping others. That is the concept behind the Gemach group.

Jews are charitable. We set up systems whereby we can help other Jews in their time of need.

In nearly every Jewish neighborhood, Jews offer concepts, objects or services to others at no fee.

In other cases, a small fee is charged in order to cover expenses.

How does one find these gemachs?

Until now, word got around by word of mouth. Now the Gemach group helps people locate gemachs when they need them. The group also helps people who have a Gemach themselves to publicize their service to others.

Our Gemach group gives information about gemachs around the world. Many of the gemachs are not likely to be in your own local area. There is no question or doubt that if you post a query, other subscribers will be able to suggest a Gemach in your location.
