A chiddush is an innovation, neologism, or novelty. It's a new insight into a specific issue in Jewish religious learning.
Archimedes exclaimed "Eureka". Jewish scholars exclaim "ah chiddush!"
Jews have studied the Talmud for many years. Yet, through intensive study, scholars continue to discover and publish innovations in these ancient pages.
Ah Yiddishe Chiddish is the Yiddish pronunciation. The Israeli Hebrew pronunciation is cheeDOOSH, with the stress on the second syllable.
