In 1922,
Hal Roach created a new series that he called Hal Roach's Rascals. The stars
of this show were average kids doing basically average things. The series
was actually a series of short films, so that the storylines did not relate
to each other.
The first
of these films was called "Our Gang". The name Our Gang was soon
the name used for the series, rather than Hal Roach's Rascals. Some still
called it Hal Roach's Rascals, but that eventually faded.
The show
featured many young actors/actresses in its 22 year span (1922-1944). Here
is a list of them.

Notice that each character only stayed on for a few years. This was because
because the kids were getting too old and Hal Roach wanted the age group of
his cast to stay the same. Also, many characters play their own name.
