Oprah was born second in Queen’s litter and was to set the mark for the other girls. She is all black, no white hairs (though there is some now from bite scars) so my tradition of dogs with hardly any white / no white on them continues. She was an absolutely stunning puppy, very similar in my eyes to her great-great grandmother Ch Reigate Satin Doll with some of the attitude (not all luckily). I hope she keeps the beautiful round dark eyes, she grew in the typical Ourgang style and went right off as a baby and started to come back together at 14 months and is now fulfilling her potential nicely at almost two years. She wont finish maturing until she is at least 4 years I would say.

The one thing with Oprah though (appropriately named by Shane & Natalie Dhu who own Scooby & Maysie as she is a black girl with attitude who never shuts up) is that she thinks she is an absolute princess. I am the best, better than all you plebs, I don't have to do what anyone says and will do exactly as I want. Unfortunately this attitude has not changed much, though it is slooowwwlly improving.

Oprah was very naughty growing up and was very hard work toilet training (after all we are her servants to clean up after her) as I think she is scared of the dark as we never have accidents in the house during the day and only at night when the back light was not on, if it was on, no problems. She absolutely annoyed all the others, ignored you when you call her (or ran the other way) and generally did exactly as she wanted, which is rather trying at times. She is a bit of a horror sometimes though she has now grown out of most of her wicked ways.

She started off her show career brilliantly with a bald spot the size of a 10c piece in the middle of her back from a spider bite and her baby teeth undershot, needless to say we didn't do so well with her early in the Baby class but she did have one big win in Baby — Baby Puppy in Show at the British Terrier Club Champ show (with adult teeth at that stage in the correct place!) Now she generally wins her class or places well and has gained her title with ease.

She is up & down in her ring behaviour but has now won 1 Minor in Show, 4 Puppy in Groups & 1 Puppy in show and placing 2nd both days in very large classes (>20) at the Nth NSW Club 2006. She has now started to come into her element winning Reserve Challenge & Junior in Show at the NSW Stafford Society’s show and Reserve Challenge at Sydney Royal plus a respectable 5th place at the ACT SBTC Show out of 15. Here are her critiques:

Martin Grimwood (UK) - Nth NSW SBTC - 09/06: Another nice brindle who I thought was unlucky to meet 1. Close up on winner and difficult to split. Head and quarters along the same line as 1 though to nitpick not as neat in the ear. Body proportions as 1 (Showing spring of rib & decent body definition for her age) , along with the angulation in the quarters.

Bill Blacker (UK) - Nth NSW SBTC - 09/06: Brindle, good headshape, correct bite, good front, level topline, strong rear end. Carried a tiny bit too much weight for me. Good condition and handled well.

Una Rigley (Ire) - NSW Stafford Society - 7/4/07: Black Brindle, well named, in time I hope she will get it. Lovely feminine headed bitch with dark eye and keen expression, neat ears, level topline, correct bite, well balanced body, moved and showed very well, not finished maturing yet. Res CC, JUNIOR IN SHOW, Litter sister to JD Res CC.

Oprah is now moving onto her next challenge in life - motherhood. She has been put to our own Grand Ch Ourgang Hell For Leather in what will more than likely be his last litter. We are hoping for great things ...
