Seifer lifted an eyebrow. "That's a very broad
question, Selphie. Would you really be satisfied if I said I was attracted to
some Swedish film star you never heard of, or did you have something more
specific in mind?"
"Boy, Seifer, you could have got off easy," Irvine
said. "You just made it harder on yourself."
Seifer glanced at him. "You want this to be fun,
don't you? I'm not afraid to answer a more specific query."
"Okay!" Selphie said brightly. "Is there anyone
you're attracted to _in this room_?"
"Yes," Seifer replied.
Everyone stared. "Who?" Selphie asked excitedly.
Seifer gave a slow smile. "That's two questions."
A collective groan went up. "You mean you're not
going to answer?" Rinoa asked.
"Well, that would hardly be fair, would it? I
answered the question she asked."
"Okay, Seifer," Irvine sighed, "if that's all
you're going to give us, you might as well take your turn."
"All right," he said, sitting back comfortably.
"This one is for Chicken-Wuss."
"Me?" Zell said in surprise.
Seifer smiled widely. "See? He knows his name!"
Zell leapt to his feet, fists at the ready. "Why,
you-!"
"Oh, pipe down," Seifer told him. "Just answer
this question; have you ever gotten laid?"
"Whoo-hoo!" Raijin clapped. "Yeah, come on,
Zell, answer!"
Zell shifted from foot-to-foot, looking like he'd
still rather hit someone than answer. "Uh ... that's kinda personal ...."
"Of course it is, that's the idea," Quistis said.
"I suspect there won't be much we won't know about each other before this is
done."
"Unless Chicken-Wuss wants to live up to his name
and take the dare," Seifer said, grinning evilly. "And I warn you, any dare I
give you will make answering the most personal questions look wonderful by
comparison."
"Okay, fine," Zell said with a shrug. "I'll
answer, but you won't believe me. Yes, I've had sex."
"You're right, I don't believe you."
Zell shook his head. "I knew it!"
"I believe you, Zell."
Everyone looked at Squall. "Oh really?" Seifer
said in amusement. "And why do you believe him?"
"I just do," Squall replied. "He would have taken
the dare rather than lied, right?"
"Not necessarily, since taking the dare would mean
our assuming that he hadn't done anything," Irvine said.
"Well, what's the difference if no one is going
to believe him, anyway?" Squall asked.
"I believe him, too," Selphie said.
"And why is that?" Seifer asked. "First-hand
knowledge?"
Her face grew hot and she gave him an angry look.
"What if it was?"
"Selphie!" Zell snapped. "You don't have to lie
for me! I said it happened and it did, but you don't have to make up stuff to
make it seem legit!"
"I'm confused," Quistis said. "Did she or didn't
she?"
Selphie and Zell held each other's gaze for a long
moment before she stared down at the blanket. "I didn't," she admitted. "And
I never said I did. I was just mad at Seifer." She looked around the room at
all of them. "If people aren't going to answer the questions truthfully, there's
no point in playing anymore. So if you don't want to tell the truth about
yourself, leave. If you do stay, you have to swear to tell the truth and the
rest of us - " she gave Seifer a significant look, "have to swear not to doubt
you."
"All right, fair enough," he said. "Anyone
leaving? Because I assure you, I'm staying."
No one moved.
"Good," he said. "Okay, Chicken-Wuss, it's your
turn."
