A Supernatural Sakura Taisen Story
Chapter 2
*******************************************
(Sakura)
Sakura patrolled the grounds surrounding the werewolves HQ.
Over the last couple of days, Leni had been pleased. Kanna was a
wonderful edition to the werewolves' strength. Her alone upped the
main pack by a great deal. It was too bad that she had seen Sumire
first, though, Sakura thought with a frown. A big, gorgeous bitch
like that would have been a perfect bed mate, and the cubs resulting
from a union with her would be spectacular.
She sighed, cursing her fate.
(Kouran)
"Sakura! Sakura, wait up!"
Kouran, a rather over-active she-wolf with an enormous crush
on Sakura, bounded across the lawn toward her, grabbing her arm in an
enthusiastic hug. "I wondered where you had gotten to! Did you see
the new she-wolf, huh, did you? She's so BIG!! And she's already
mated with Sumire, who'd have thought! I never figured she would
be Sumire's type, did you? Huh, did you?"
(Sakura)
Damned were-mosquito, Sakura thought uncharitably.
"I got here. This is my assignment. To guard this side of the house.
Because I do what I'm told," Sakura had little patience for Kouran.
She tried, if just because she had been the one to bring Kouran to
Leni's attention, and like she herself, Kouran was one of the few
made by Leni personally.
"Yes, it's too bad about Sumire. I'd never thought
Sumire would ever be mated, darn it."
(Kouran)
The purple-haired werewolf stopped bouncing. "Did you want
Sumire for yourself?" she asked in surprise, then pouted. "But I
thought you and _I_ were a couple. We are, aren't we?" She hugged
Sakura's arm again.
(Erica)
The human girl approached the front gate of the werewolf
property and peered through. She saw the two girls and wondered
if they were werewolves. Having been with the vampires for a while,
she was used to recognizing them, but her experience with these
other supernaturals was limited.
"Excuse me?" she ventured, trying to get their attention.
(Sakura)
"I was thinking more about Kanna," Sakura murmured.
"Hello," she added to the pretty red haired girl at the gate.
"Can I help you?"
(Erica)
"Um, hello," Erica said shyly. "I heard I could learn more
about werewolves here without having to be afraid. I'd like to
write a story for my school paper about werewolf-human relations."
(Sakura)
Sakura gave the girl a friendly smile. "Yes, you can learn
about were-wolves here," she said. "If you want, you can make an
appointment with the pack leader to talk to her about it."
(Erica)
"Oh, could I please? No one could doubt my source if I say
I got it all straight from the top!" Erica beamed.
(Sakura)
"Sure," Sakura said quickly. "In fact, Kouran here is
our pack leader," Sakura added, feeling a little disquiet about this
girl. Her powerful spiritual energy was going off like mad. Maybe
because she didn't have any fear. Even Kanna had had a touch, she
remembered. While she hadn't met her, she had seen her walk by the
room she was in, and there had been a touch of fear.
She gave Kouran's arm a little warning squeeze. It was
usual for the lesser wolves to pretend they were high ranking wolves
if just to protect the strength of the pack.
(Kouran)
The freckle-faced werewolf winced slightly at the pressure
on her arm, but smiled at Erica. "Yes, that's me, the pack leader,
that's right," she said, her head bobbing up and down. She went
over and let Erica inside. "Let's go sit down somewhere and you
can ask me your questions."
(Sakura)
"And oh, Ma'am? I need to go in for a sec. I'll be
back in a few secs, or someone will come out to replace me in
less than that."
Sakura sprinted into the house. Kouran wasn't her
favorite, but she didn't want her hurt, just in case. She grabbed
the first wolf she came to. "Go outside immediately, Kouran is
acting Pack Leader and is alone. Go!"
(Erica)
"So," said Erica as she brought out a notebook and prepared
to write in it, "tell me about werewolves and how it's better for
we humans that they dominate over vampires?"
(Kouran)
The she-wolf pushed her glasses up her nose. "I think it's
obvious. Humans are a food source for vampires, not werewolves."
(Erica)
The human girl swallowed. "Good point," she said, then
cleared her throat. "So the werewolves think they can win over
the vampires? But there are fewer of them, right? How can
they possibly succeed?"
(Kouran)
Kouran sat up, beaming. "Oh, well, we just got a BIG boost
in that department! This powerful woman just became one of us, and
she's mating with Sumire, one of our best she-wolves. I wouldn't
give _any_ vampire a chance against Kanna!"
(Erica)
Carefully, Erica wrote down the names 'Sumire' and 'Kanna' -
the latter of which she circled twice.
(Sakura)
Sakura peeked into Maria's office, where she had tracked
her. "Maria? There's a girl out there who's wanting to know about
werewolves. She thinks Kouran is pack leader at the moment."
(Maria)
The she-wolf gave Sakura a scathing look. "And you left
them alone? Really, Sakura!" Maria hurriedly left her office
and headed out front, then she paused, noticing Kanna in the
hallway with Sumire. "Kanna, come here," she said.
(Kanna)
The larger woman approached the blonde and looked curious.
"Yes, Maria?"
(Maria)
Apparently Kouran is outside pretending to be pack leader
to a human girl who is talking to her. This is common practice
for us, to protect the higher-ranking wolves. However, we cannot
leave Kouran unsupported. Please go out there and watch from a
distance - be a 'presence', so that the girl knows not to attempt
anything."
(Kanna)
"Yes, Ma'am!" she said and went outside.
(Sakura)
"I did tell someone to go out," she muttered to herself.
Geez. Try to do the right thing...
(Iris)
Iris had bounded out onto the front lawn when Sakura had
asked her to. She was now sitting, in her cute little yellow wolf
form, looking at the pretty human. Lots of redheads lately, she
thought to herself.
(Kanna)
The large woman spotted the little wolf and was rather
shocked - surely Maria hadn't sent that cub out there ahead of her
to stand guard? What protection for Kouran would _she_ possibly
be? Quickly, she changed to her own wolf form and bounded out
across the lawn.
(Erica)
The human girl was startled and enchanted by the sight of
the sweet yellow wolf cub. "Ohhh, she's so cute! May I pet her?"
(Kouran)
"I guess so, if she'll allow it," Kouran replied. She
wasn't sure how comfortable Iris was with humans.
(Erica)
Erica reached out a hand toward the cub's muzzle. "Here,
cutie!" she coaxed.
(Kanna)
Before the human could actually touch Iris, the enormous red
wolf pounced on the little one and grabbed the scruff of her neck
in her teeth, pulling her out of harm's way.
(Erica)
The undercover supernatural-killer screamed in shock - the
red wolf was HUGE! And she seemed to come out of nowhere!
(Iris)
She was going to let the pretty girl pet her; she liked
having her ears scratched - it felt soooo goooood! - when she felt
an adult grab her.
Hoisted way into the air, she yelped a bit in shock. Wow....
(Sumire)
Sumire looked out, to see her mate picking up the little cub
from a stranger. She walked outside in human form, and went over to
the small group. Putting a hand on Kanna's big head, she gently
rubbed the silky fur.
"Hello," she said to the girl. "Don't be too frightened.
We're very protective of our cubs. We love each other very much here,
and will do anything to protect each other. Isn't that right, my
love?" she smiled down (only a little down!) at Kanna."
(Kanna)
The big wolf put down the little cub and released her. She
nuzzled Sumire's hand.
(Erica)
Unsure of what to do, Erica held very still. The large wolf
looked dangerous, even if she _did_ seem like a big teddy bear while
relating to the pretty woman stroking her.
(Sumire)
"And who would you be? Werewolf groupie? Werewolf
wannabe? Werewold murderer?" Sumire's eyes narrowed.
(Iris)
Iris bounded around Kanna's treetrunks- uhh... legs, in
a show of unconcerned childishness. She knew that there were mean
people around, and wanted to seem younger than her years, because
people didn't hurt kids.
(Erica)
"Gosh, no! None of those things!" Erica protested. "I'm just
a high school kid writing a story on werewolf-human relations. Maybe I
should come back another time, when you're not so busy," she said
hastily to Kouran as she got to her feet. She carefully stepped over
the wolf cub leaping around their feet. "Thank you all for your
time!" she said, and hastily left.
(Sumire)
"That was strange," she remarked quietly, then kneeled
next to Kanna, putting an arm around her furry neck. "What did you
think, love? Do you think she was telling the truth?" Sumire knew
it was hard to fool werewolves. "She smelled like vampire."
(Kanna)
The big wolf switched to human and sat cross-legged on the
grass. "I _thought_ I smelled something odd around her, but I've
never smelled a vampire before, so I couldn't identify it."
She looked at the other three werewolves. "What do we do?"
(Sumire)
Sumire slid her arms around Kanna's neck from behind,
and sighed. "The best thing to do is to talk to Leni about it.
She'll know what to do. She's themost intelligent person I've
ever met." She nuzzled Kanna's ear.
(Iris)
"I know Iris isn;t supposed to read thought, but Iris
stll picks up really _loud_ thought," Iris, who had shifted back,
was kneeling in the gradd, chewing her lower lip. "She wanted
death. Vengence? What is vengence? Iris doesn't know that word?"
(Sumire)
"Definitely going to Leni. I'm so glad we're in her personal
pack."
(Kouran)
The purple-haired she-wolf jumped to her feet, finally able
to return to being her own hyper self. "Yes, we should go to Leni
right away! What if she's dangerous?! Hey, she could have KILLED
me! Good thing you guys came out here! Come on, what are you
waiting for - let's go NOW!" She ran into the house.
(Kanna)
"I hate to admit it, but she's got a point." Kanna stood
up and lifted Iris onto her shoulders. "Let's _all_ go talk to
Leni about this." She looked grim. "One thing at least. I'll
never forget that girl's scent, so she'd better keep her distance
if she knows what's good for her."
*******************************************
(Leni)
Leni listened to the girls, as they told their tale
of the vampire-smelling girl. She nodded. "All right. Don't
have anything more to do with her. If she shows up again, run
her off the property. If she insists, Kanna, I want you to mildly
hurt her. Don't use teeth. Don't break anything. Just hurt
her. And threaten to kill her."
Leni frowned. So, Lobelia was getting worried, hm?
*******************************************
(Erica)
The human girl took a deep breath and tried to calm her
racing heart. She had the feeling as if she had barely escaped
with her life! But at least she had the answer to the question
that would gain her entrance to Lobelia's castle once more.
"Let me in!" she insisted as she pounded on the door.
"I have news for the Supreme Vampire!"
To be continued....
