Memories of You

Chapter 8

"So, Remy, I must know."
"Hm?" Remy looked over at Warren. For some reason, Warren was looking at him. Ah, yes. The homme had asked him something. "Je desol, me ami. I missed that."
"I said, I must know," Warren looked a touch mischievous.
It is not fair, Remy thought to himself, that he looks better in a suit than I do, and it is my wedding day. "Know what?"
"Were you listening to us at all?" Logan chuckled.
"Non," Remy shrugged. "I was tinking."
"That's a switch," Kurt laughed.
"Ha ha ha. It is too funny, Remy laugh," Remy shook his head. "Now, what is the question."
"What is Rogue like in bed?" Warren asked. "I mean, we've all had thoughts on what it would be like to bed her, but you're the first of us to do so."
"An de last. Wha' kind o question is dat!?"
"I never had thoughts," Kurt shook his head.
"Right, Elf," Logan snorted. "You've never thought of taking a beautiful, sexy woman to bed."
"She's my sister! I'm going to be a priest!"
"She's your foster sister, you've known her since before you knew that fact, and you've not always been studying to be a priest," Logan laughed.
Remy turned from the laughter, and lit a cigarette. "Jus nerves," he murmured to himself.
"Don't be," Bishop said, standing in the doorway. "You can be happy about one thing. This did not happen in the timeline I was from. Rogue was never married. She had never gotten control of her powers."
"Well, dat's a relief. Mebbe things, dey will work out ok in de end."
"Maybe so, maybe so," Hank nodded. "Though, to a man on his wedding day everything seems to be wonderful."
"It is," Remy nodded. "I am marrying Roguey today. An none of you will ever know what it is like to bed her. Much to your losses."
"That good?" Warren grinned.
"What is Betsy like?" Remy shot back.
"Very energetic, and very dangerous!" Warren exclaimed.
"She'll be much more dangerous if she finds you've been talking about your sex life," Logan told him sagely.
Warren chucked. "Too true, too true."
"So, Remy, how are you feeling?" Hank asked.
"Well, Henri, my stomach feels as if I had a herd of buffalo stampeding through it, and I tink that when I see her, I will just faint rather dan face her. I am a coward."
"I think you are very nervous, my friend," Hank smiled.
"I tink dat you are right."
"Well, I guess it's my turn," Logan grinned, and took Remy aside. "Look, bub, you an me, we haven't always gotten along."
"You got dat right."
"But Rogue and me, we go back quite away back now. We've both seen other teammates come and go. We've supported each other through thick and thin. Even when the other didn't want help, we'd help. We're family. Maybe the team and I are the only thing that's kept her sane through these years. Knowing, despite the lack of touch, we've been here for her, and wouldn't turn her away.
"That's why I have to tell you this Cajun. I've sat back and watched the way you've treated her since you've met her, and have come to the conclusion that if you hurt her again, I will personally pop my claws and start searching for your heart."
"Logan!" Remy looked shocked.
"Call me overprotective, but I've seen you hurt her before. I'm not saying that I'm expecting it, and I sure as hell would hate to kill you. You're part of this family, too, you know. But Rogue an me've been buds for a real long time. We've gone to hell and back with each other."
"Den why didn't you marry her?" Remy's eyes narrowed, not liking the little 'talk' Logan was giving him.
"It never would have worked out. But with you two, it could. I love 'er like crazy, but not that way.
"Remember that she started out without nobody trusting her. More than one of us would have rather left the X-Men than to have her join. But we stuck it out, and now she's one of the leaders. Your problem was that you didn't trust us. But it's all past, now. Take care of her."
"Oui, Remy will take good care of Rogue. An' she will take care of me," Remy nodded. "I do love her, Logan. I tink she is truly da first person dat cut through da selfishness. An' I am so nervous, I tink I might throw up. I was not dis nervous wit' Bella. Why am I so nervous? I tink I will go insane!"
"It's natural," Logan laughed.
"Remy?" Hank called out. "It's time to go."
"I oh, boy," Remy sighed.
Remy walked down the stairs with a great deal of trepidation. The time he had hope for had finally come. He was going to marry Rogue. He thought of the day they met. He thought of the day he decided that he thought she was really pretty, and it might not be so bad to get closer.
He thought of the time spent together, some good, some bad, and how the fondness had grown into deep caring, and how that evolved into love.
What they had gone through to get to this day was incredible.
He walked to the head of the aisle, and turned to view the assembled guests.
Friends, teammates, even some enemies
Family.
