The Camping Trip
Shoujo Kakumei Utena: The Hidden Chapters
Chapter 5
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This is our first attempt at an Utena fic.
We haven't even done ones on our own :)
Our disclaimer: We've only seen to episode
29, so don't bug us.
We don't own the characters (Though we wish
We did... Utena locked in our basement in
Chains... heh heh) Saito Chiho and the
Be-PaPas own them, though.
This is fanfiction and may not follow the
'Ways of the Ohtori World'. If things are
a little different, just remember: It's just
fanfiction. Not the end of the world.
I made a funny. (And didn't mean to.)
Wanna add more, Ruka?
Nah, you've pretty much summed it up. Oh,
wait a minute, yeah, one thing. Like usual,
we don't want this fic posted anywhere else,
okay? Thanks.

(Anthy)
Walking into camp, her skirts full of ripe cherries, she looked about. "Utena sama?"
(Juri)
"She ran for the river a little while ago. Is Miki with you?"
(Anthy)
"No, why?"
(Juri)
Frowning, she looked around. "He followed you out there. I hope he's ok."
(Utena)
"ANTHY!" Utena exclaimed as she arrived back at camp. She gave the
other girl an impulsive, wet hug from behind. "I was so worried about you!
Why did you run off like that when I told you to be still?"
(Anthy)
"Hello, Utena sama! I'm glad you're all right. You didn't get stung,
did you? I must admit a weakness. I'm allergic to bee stings.
I panicked. I'm sorry."
[[Note from Michiru: Still no answer from you, Utena?]]
[[Note from Haruka: I think you've rendered her speechless, love.]]
(Utena)
"Those weren't bees, they were wasps. An entire wasp's nest in
our tent, and me covered in honey and ants. SOMEBODY put those there."
She took a moment to check out her arms and legs. "You know, I think I
didn't even get stung once. Talk about good luck!" She glanced over
her shoulder. "I'm worried about Saionji - I sort of ... um ... ran
into him while on my way to dump the wasp's nest in the lake. Did
everyone else go into their tents?"
(Anthy)
"I don't know," Anthy looked worried. "I just got back. Juri
sempai says Miki went after me..."
(Utena)
"And he hasn't come back?" Utena said worriedly. "Hey, Juri, Touga,
come on out if you're there, we've got a situation. The wasps are gone,
anyway."
[[Note from wasp: bzzzzzzz ....]]
[[Note from Utena: OKAY, maybe there's one left. Geez.]]
(Juri)
Juri came out of the tent with her compass. "I was already getting
ready to go," she said. "He didn't even take his stop-watch," she looked
worried. "Poor Miki."
(Utena)
"Before you go, _someone_ put honey on me and left me to the mercies
of an army of ants _and_ dumped a loaded wasp's nest in our tent," Utena
said seriously. "We could have been seriously hurt, and Anthy's allergic to
stings - she could have died. I don't know who did these things, but I
don't think it's funny."
(Juri)
"Actually, I thought the honey was a nice touch," she smiled a little.
I"t washes out, and I figured it would give you the creeps. The bees,
though, that's many steps too far," Juri looked worried. Who would do
something that bad?
(Touga)
"Stupid Saionji," Touga shook his head. "I saw him head down to the lake
last night. If he wishes to kill you, it would be better suited for it to
be on the dueling grounds. At least that's honourable. This is plain cruel
and sneaky."
(Utena)
"YOU put the honey all over me?!" Utena said angrily. "I wound up
covered in ants! And the wasps just _loved_ that honey! I'm lucky I got out
alive!" She turned to Touga, eyes blazing. "If you value
Saionji as a friend at all, you'd better see to him, then, because if
_I_ go back to the lake, I'll be holding his head underwater!"
(Juri)
"I told you I was going to get you. You purposefully drew attention to
the fact that I was nude! Did you think I could easily forgive such a thing?
And how did I know that Saionji was going to do something like that? I'm not
his mother and I certainly am not in his head!" Juri cried, heatedly.
(Touga)
"Have fun, Utena," Touga waved, heading back to his tent.
(Utena)
"Hey, wait a minute!" Utena yelled after Touga. "Even if you don't
care less about Saionji, something I can well understand, aren't you a little
worried about Miki?! He's lost out there!"
(Touga)
"Miki's fine. He's probably still looking for the Rose Bride, and
sooner or later will realize she made it back and come back himself. He's a
smart boy."
(Miki)
"AN-THYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!"
Where had she gone?! She could be wandering lost and alone out there
in the woods, and he couldn't find her. Nor was he altogether sure he could
find his way back. Miki sighed and pulled out his stopwatch, wishing it was
the compass he'd left back in camp.
The sound of heavy footsteps drew his attention to a stand of trees
clustered near an outcropping of rocks. A big black head poked through and
growled at him. He clicked the stopwatch automatically and began backing
away.
"Nice bear. Nice ... salivating ... bear ...." he turned and fled.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
(Juri)
Juri moved through the woods, looking for Miki. She didn't feel the
same assurance for his safety that the idiot Touga did. He had no
compass, and the blasted stopwatch was a poor replacement.
"Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikkkkkkkkkkkkiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
(Saionji)
He heard a voice. It was Juri's, and she was calling for Miki. Who
_cared_ about Miki - what about HIM?! Stumbling away from the lake, covered
in leeches and wasp stings, he followed Juri's voice until he finally
collapsed in her path.
"Guuunnnnnnggggg ...."
(Anthy)
Anthy finished cleaning the honey from the tent, and swept the ant
bodies out. It had been a sticky situation, but she had managed. She
giggled at her mental joke.
Looking up at the afternoon sky, she wondered if Miki was ok. Juri
had been gone for a long time. For that matter, Saionji was still not
around...
(Utena)
"Mikiiiiiii!" Utena called into the woods. She tied a piece of the
old t-shirt she'd torn up to a bush as a marker and continued deeper. What
if the younger boy was hurt? At least she could carry him to camp on her
back, but they didn't have much by way of serious medical supplies.
(Anthy)
Anthy walked down to the lake to look for more food, when she
tripped over something. "Hm? Saionji sempai! What are you doing here?"
(Saionji)
Lifting his head wearily, Saionji was extremely relieved to see
Anthy's beautiful face. "An-thy," he gasped out, "thank goodness it's
you. I'm injured, I need help."
[[Note from Utena: We've all known you need help for a LONG time.]]
[[Note from Saionji: You're a heartless bitch, you know that?]]
[[Note from Utena: *POW*]]
[[Note from Saionji: x_x]]
(Anthy)
"Oh, hello, Saionji sempai. Maybe you should go back to camp if
you're hurt. Utena sama has a first aid kit there."
(Juri)
Looking behind her, she saw Saionji, and realized that in her haste,
she had passed by him as he fell in front of her.
"Saionji, you shouldn't lay in the path like that. Oh, did you see
Miki? He's missing."
[[Note from Saionji: You are the most heartless, insensitive, cruel
women to ever curse this planet (and of course this includes Ugly
Tomboy, who barely qualifies as a woman, anyway.]]
(Saionji)
"Miki?" Saionji squeaked. "Who cares about Miki?! He's a genius, he
can probably build a flare gun out of twigs and dirt! I'm laying here
dying, it's all that tomboy's fault, and no one even wants to TRY to help
me!" He struggled to his feet, feeling somewhat sick and dizzy from the wasp
venom and the leeches sucking out his very life's blood. "Well, fine then!
I'll just go back to camp, pack up and hike OUT of this place!" He began
limping away.
[[Note from Juri: YOU'RE the one who put the wasps in Utena's tent in the
first place! AND I might add that you could have killed Anthy, as she's
allergic...]]
(Juri)
"Took us an hour to get here. Wonder how long it would take to walk back..."
(Touga)
"Oh, no, god, please, don't... DON'T....
AAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Touga's scream ripped through the forest.
[[Note from Saionji: She's only allergic in the story, and I didn't
know about it! And _you're_ not supposed to know I put the wasps in
there!]]
(Saionji)
The sound of Touga's scream stopped Saionji in his tracks. "Dear
God, what could be happening?" he murmured. "I'm coming, Touga!" he called,
and continued to limp.
[[Note from Saionji: Okay, so I can't go FAST, but I'm going!]]
[[Note from Juri: Thhhhhhfffffffffffftttttttttt.]]
(Touga)
Lurching into camp, his eyes watering, and retching, he dimly noticed
that there seemed to be nobody around.
He laid in the middle of the dirt and rolled around.
(Saionji)
Eventually, Saionji managed to make it back to camp. He wondered if
the venom was affecting his eyesight - that couldn't be Touga wallowing in
the dust. "Touga?" he said hesitantly.
(Touga)
He knew the stench of the skunk much be reaching Saionji. He felt
like he was going to throw up. And maybe slit his throat while he was at
it. Thank the heaven's Nanami couldn't see him...
(Saionji)
It hit him suddenly, like a ton of bricks. A ton of incredibly
stinky, disgusting, nausea-inducing bricks. He pinched his nose shut.
"Skug?" he said needlessly.
[[Note from Touga: This is so humiliating. Don't EVER say I don't play
fair. I don't HAVE to play this crummy game...]]
(Touga)
"Gllllaaauuuug," Touga gllllaaauuuuged.
[[Note from Saionji: You have my utmost gratitude. I was sure they
were going to stick me with the skunk on top of everything else.]]
[[Note from Utena: Well, that would have been more appropriate ....]]
(Saionji)
"Thad id gose," Saionji said, still holding his nose. He would need
to go somewhere to breathe soon. "No tomado doose?"
(Touga)
"I'm dying!" He gagged.
(Anthy)
"What's that bad smell?" she asked, coming into camp. "It
smells like skunk here. Utena sama, is there a skunk around here?" She
called.
(Utena)
There was STILL no sign of Miki, and Utena was beginning to think she
was going in circles. Yep, there was one of her markers on a bush.
She'd already come this way. Maybe it was time to start following the
markers back to camp then. They could regroup and start a more thorough
search.
The faint sound of running, thumping, and screaming could be heard in
the distance - and it was getting louder. She realized the screamer was
Miki.
"MIKI?!" she called out as loudly as she could. "MIKI, THIS WAY!"
(Miki)
Who knew bears could run so FAST?!! Miki thought, his mind a babbling
panic as he charged blindly through the woods only a few steps ahead of the
huge black animal.
Okay-so-he-did-know-bears-were-fast-in-act-they-could-easily-run-down-a-full-
grown-man-and-he-was-hardly-full-grown-yet-himself-and-it-was-a-miracle-he-ha
dn't-been-eaten-yet--
Was that Utena's voice? YES! He veered toward it.
"UTENA-SAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!"
(Utena)
Dear God! Utena thought when she finally had Miki in view. He was
being chased by a bear! She turned and ran for all she was worth.
"BEAR!" she yelled ahead of her. "GUYS, THERE'S A BEAR!"
(Anthy)
"I guess she's still gone," Anthy sighed, walking fully into the
camp. She saw Touga lying in the dirt, rolling around in it like he was a
pig
[[Note from Touga: Hey! Wait a minute!!]]
[[Note from Anthy: Well, you do...]]
rolling around in the mud. The awful stench was coming from him. "Oh,
dear," she sighed, backing away.
(Touga)
"Helb meee!" Touga cried out to Anthy. Then watched as the Rose
Bride turned and hurried away.
(Juri)
"A bear?" Juri heard Utena yell. She jogged toward where she heard
Utena yell.
A bear.
Chasing Utena and Miki.
"Don't run you idiots! You're just making him run after you! Play
dead! Play dead!!!"
To illustrate her point, she dropped to the ground, and played dead.
(Utena and Miki)
Both Utena and Miki right ran over the 'dead' Juri. So did the bear.
(Miki)
"PLAY dead?!" Miki cried as he ran. "If we stop now, we'll BE dead!"
(Miki)
"Where is Saionji when you need him?!" Utena exclaimed, running as
fast as she could.
(Miki)
"Why do we need him?!"
(Utena)
"To be bear bait, what else?!"
[[Note from Saionji: Thanks a whole lot!]]
(Utena and Miki)
The pair finally saw their camp up ahead. "BEAR, BEAR!" they yelled
in unison, hoping Touga and Anthy, if they were around, would have the sense
to run, too. As they approached, they only saw Touga, and he was on the
ground - maybe playing dead like Juri? Both Utena and Miki darted behind
Touga's camper and peered around it. The bear had stopped running and was
sniffing the air. It gave a piteous roar and bounded away through the trees
in a hurry.
(Utena)
"I don't get it," Utena said. "Why --?"
The smell reached her. She covered her nose and looked at Miki, who
was already holding his own nose.
(Miki)
"THAD'S why!" he said conclusively.
(Anthy)
Anthy watched a bear lope by. She could swear it was crying, as it
passed her. It was certainly making a horrible noise.
"Utena sama? She ran back to the stinky camp.
"Utena sama!" she cried again, running towards her, arms open.
"There was a beeeeear!"
(Utena)
"Anthy!" Utena hugged her friend tightly. "I was worried about you!
That bear chased us right into camp, but ...." she made a face. "The smell
got to him."
(Miki)
"It's getting to _me_, too," Miki said. "We have to do something."
(Utena)
"Without tomato juice, I don't know _what_ to do," Utena admitted,
scratching her head. "Hey, where's Juri?"
(Miki)
"Um, didn't we run over her back on the path?"
[[Note from Juri: Thanks. A lot. Really. In case you didn't notice,
that's SARCASM....]]
(Anthy)
"Touga stinks," she nodded. And we really have nothing to help him
with. He'll have to sleep outside of the camp.
(Juri)
Something snuffled at her ear. It was a disconcerting feeling.
She opened her eyes.
A moment later she screamed.
(Utena)
"JURI?!" Utena cried. "Come on guys!" She led the way through the
woods, following the sound of Juri's scream.
[[Note from Juri: I want to go home. Now.]]
(Juri)
Streaking past Utena, she ran as fast as she could as if she could
outrun the pain.
(Porcupine)
*padpadpadpad* *shake*
(Utena)
Screeching to a stop, Utena held her foot in mid-air, poised over the
porcupine. She'd come WAY too close to stepping on it!
"Juri?!" she called over her shoulder. "Hey, Juri, wait up!" She
danced around on the one foot, trying to regain her balance and get both feet
on non-porcupined ground.
[[Note from Juri: Is anyone listening to me? I WANT to go HOME!]]
(Juri)
Running into camp, she went for the tent. It hurt hurt hurt!
(Anthy)
"Sempai?" Juri had run past her like something was chasing her.
[[Note from Saionji: SO WHO DOESN'T???!!!]]
(Miki)
"Juri-san, are you all right?" Miki asked, leaning near the tent
flap. He glanced toward Anthy in concern. "Her expression looked as if she
was in pain. Do you think it's from us running over her?"
(Utena)
Running back into the camp, Utena panted breathlessly. "I thought
I'd never get away from that stupid porcupine! Hey, did Juri come back
here?"
[[Note from Kanna: I can't take this anymore - it's too painful to watch!
Maria, can't we DO something?]]
[[Note from Maria: Yes, it is obvious we had better intervene before they
all end up dead. -_-]]
(Maria)
All of a sudden, there came the sound of an engine overheard - it was
the Shougemaru, and aboard were the members of the Hanagumi in their koubu,
intent on a BADLY needed rescue.
[[Note from Utena: Hey, _wait_ just a darned minute ....]]
(Kanna)
Shougemaru landed and the brightly-coloured koubu came out. "Don't
worry, kids, we're here to save you!" said Kanna, the heroic, dashing
Hanagumi member in the red koubu.
(Maria)
"Everyone gather up the fallen members of this ill-fated camping trip so
we can take them home for medical, and perhaps psychological, attention!"
Maria ordered the others.
(Juri)
Llooking up at the intruders, she thanked every god out there. "Get
the porcupine quills out!" she cried, blinking back tears, and holding out
her arm that had about 20 quills sticking out of it.
(Touga)
"Tomaaaaato juuuuuuuuice....."
(Ichirou)
"All right girls, we have a serious situation here. Three boys and
three girls. We have to get all of them out. Two of the girls seem fine,
but that one needs some medical and mental attention because of this trip.
"One boy needs a bath, badly. And mental attention because of this trip.
"Another boy needs mental attention because of the trip, and the last
boy needs medical attention, and mental attention, maybe because of the
trip..."
(Leni)
"I think he may have needed the mental ward before the trip..."
(Kanna)
"Found this one, chief!" Kanna came out of the woods carrying
Saionji over her shoulder. "There are an awful lot of stingers and leeches
stuck to him."
(Saionji)
"Home. Take ... me ... home ...." Saionji mumbled incoherently.
(Kouran)
The purple-haired girl in braids from the green koubu knelt down in
front of the blue-haired boy with the stopwatch. "It's okay," she said
soothingly. "We're going to help you."
(Miki)
*scratch* Thank you. *CLICK* *CLICK* *CLICK* *CLICK*
(Kouran)
"Ichirou-han, I think this is one of the mental attention candidates
...."
[[Note from Utena: You GUYS!!! This is nuts!! You're wrecking our
whole story!]]
[[Note from Orihime: It was a wreck before we ever got here.]]
(Anthy)
"Oh, dear," Anthy sighed, starting to pack up the camp. "I think
it's time we go home."
(Sumire)
Flipping her beautiful hair back from her ultra-beautiful face, she
surveyed the scene from beside her violet koubu. "This is pathetic," she
sniffed.
(Ichirou)
"I think this is it. Everyone get one of the campers bundled into
your Koubu, and let's get moving!"
(Kanna)
"I'll take this one, since I've got him already." Kanna carried
Saionji away to her koubu.
(Kouran)
Offering the blue-haired boy a hand, Kouran spoke slowly to him.
"You ... come ... me ... now ...."
(Miki)
*CLICK**CLICK**CLICK**CLICK**CLICK**scratch**CLICK**CLICK**CLICK*
Miki allowed himself to be led away by the nice braided girl.
(Maria)
"Come along, dear," Maria began helping Anthy into her koubu.
(Utena)
"Hey, hold up! I'm going with Anthy!" Utena hurried after Maria.
(Orihime)
Frowning at the porcupine quills in the orange-haired girl's arm,
Orihime nevertheless helped her toward her scarlet koubu. "Whatever
possessed someone of your obvious culture to come to this Godforsaken
hellhole in the first place ...?" she muttered.
(Kanna)
"Oiy, Sumire!" Kanna yelled over her shoulder. "You get Skunk Boy!"
(Juri)
"I didn't want to come! I was forced," Juri sniffled, trying to
ignore the pain in her arm.
(Sumire)
"_I'M_ not taking Skunk Boy!!! I'll take the pink haired girl!"
Sumire took Utena's arm and began to lead her toward her Koubu. "It'll be
ok, dear."
(Sakura)
With a sigh, the girl dressed in pink led Touga to her matching Koubu.
(Touga)
"Dank uuu."
(Utena)
"Hey, wait a minute! Where the heck are you taking me?! I'm not
going into THAT thing!" Utena looked back toward Anthy, whom Maria had
assisted to the top of the koubu (whatever THAT is ...) "Anthy!"
(Maria)
"Just ignore her," Maria told Anthy gently. "She's obviously
agitated and volatile. We'll make sure she gets the psychiatric help she needs."
*****
(Kanna)
And so the heroic Hanagumi rescued the poor, pathetic wretches from
the woods. With Iris' healing power, they were able to fix most of their
physical problems on the way home in Shougemaru. There wasn't much they
could do about Skunk Boy, though, and thanks to him the ride back was pretty
unpleasant for everyone concerned ....
[[Note from Touga: THAT is NOT FAIR!!!! You didn't have ANYTHING in that
colossal airship to get rid of the blasted stink?]]
[[Note from Anthy: At least we'll see Chuchu.]]
[[Note from Utena: Is that the end of the story?! Are we just going to let
them take over and push us aside and act like big heroes while we're
pathetic losers who need rescuing?!]]
[[Note from Saionji: YES!]]
[[Note from Miki: Yes ....]]
[[Note from Juri: Oh, most definitely.]]
[[Note from Touga: Uh huh.]]
[[Note from Anthy: We did ok, Utena sama, but... well... There's well over 7
chapters to the story (though the girl putting it together has been lazy
from chapter 5 on....) and there's only so much that can happen to people in
the woods without dying... And they were getting close....]]
[[Note from Utena: Okay, okay, far be it from me to force you all into
keeping this going. *grumble*]]
(Utena)
And so our camping trip ended. Stupidly, with no real plot
conclusion, and in a totally unbelievable fashion, but that's the way it
goes. The End.
[[Note from Utena: Next time we go camping, Anthy, it's just you and
me, okay? :) ]]
[[Note from Anthy: Yes, Utena sama *smile*]]
CHU!!!
