3M Stemwinder Chess Puzzle #6 Solution

 

1. Qb6+

(The Queen moved from b1 to b6, giving check.) Black has two possible replies:

1. ... Rxb6 to which White replies: 2. Nf3 mate! (The Bishop on a8 now cuts off the e4 square from the King thanks to the Rook moving out of the way.)

1. ... Ke4 to which White replies: 2. Re5 mate!
