Jordan's Story

Jordan was the best little daughter and big sister a Mommy and Daddy could ask for. She always remembered her pleases' & thank-you's, gave kisses and hugs freely, adored her new baby brother Aidan, knew her alphabet in English and French, counted to 30, could draw little stick people and was selfless. Pretty good for a (nearly) Three year old!

Jordan enjoyed singing, dancing, colouring, make "wacky" faces, chocolate, green grapes, her brother Aidan and her babysitter Maria's "Goulaush" (stew)! She was a very clever little girl who at the age of 2 1/2 asked the question, "Did Grandpa drive a car to heaven?"

A week after her brother Aidan was born, we continued sending her to the babysitter's house as I recovered from the delivery and to add some continuity to her life. I remember Jordan coming home from Maria's house most days laughing and shouting, "Mommy, Aidan, I'm home!!!!" (That tickled me pink!) She would run into the house, and greeted Aidan with so many kisses and hugs that we almost had to set a limit! Two weeks from that day, I would never hear those sweet little words shouting from the laundry room again, or have to set limits on any amount of kissing and hugging.

Jordan was the funniest little person I knew and who taught me much about myself, love and the wonder of children. I feel so blessed that she is my daughter, in whatever form that may be.

Our last day with Jordan was a very happy one as we celebrated at a friends Third Birthday party. Jordan spent her day petting animals, riding a pony, singing Happy Birthday, eating pizza, cheezies and oh yes, cake!!!

We left our home that afternoon for the party, only to return home two days later with one less child to celebrate a birthday for. On our way home, a young man ran a red light, struck our car, and Jordan was gone instantly.

As I mentioned earlier, Jordan was very selfless for her age and even in her death she provided us with the strength to donate her organs and soft tissues - Jordan helped save the lives of up to 7 children.

I thank God for his strength & light and for blessing us with two beautiful children.

I also thank Dr. Kathy Chu and her magic "chopsticks" (the forceps which assisted Jordan into this world!), and Staff at Sick Children's Hospital - Toronto, who helped Jordan to give her final worldly gifts through Organ Donation.
