| Read: James 5:16; Psalm 51:7; Jeremiah 4:3-4 The word heart in the Bible means "the center of spiritual activity." It is the foundation of our motivation; it is a seed of passion. The heart is the home of the personal life. In it dwells good and wise, or bad and foolish. Solomon said, "above all else guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." Guard means to protect, maintain, preserve, inspect. An unhealthy heart will diminish the view of God's will for your life; for your ministry. If you have extreme bitterness, jealousy, or anger, it will hinder you from making it to the top of the mountain. The repentive heart keeps us guarded. We need to check for hypocricy in our own hearts. How do you view the Bible? Everything we do in everyday situations concerning how we should live, in marriage, in parenting, should be biblical. Life's complications can distract you from intimacy with God. To receive from the Lord, your heart must be prepared. |
