I remember just her and I, no one else could come between; I remember how close we were, and how we made such a great team. I can even remember the woods that night, and how I grabbed her hand; No, I didn't look for the comfort of others, I knew only she would understand.
And it's funny now that I can look back, and remember without a doubt, the night we made yellow snow with the others on the side of her house. I thought I could only remember the times between us that happened to be rough, But when I dug deep I found, the good times were exactly why is wasn't that tough.
I'm older now and I may not remember much, being 60 is a good excuse. :-) But of the times I can remember, I'm glad she was a part of my childhood youth. I remember when were moving, and how we set up boxes to play; we laughed with the kind of joy that came only by crawling through a maze.
These simple moments make her so hard to replace, so I'm ending with her name; I'm so happy that she was a part of my life, and so glad she willingly came She is and forever will be, my best friend, Elaine. |
