For a people of chosen origin, how we hate this word!
We have morals, as long as they don't interfere with our wants;
To respond with gratitude in praise to You; how absurd!
We face the enemy alone, with his temptation and taunts.
We wonder what has happened to all we used to own;
In the ways of moral authority and high integrity;
Disobedience is the answer, as You have made known.
Still many ignore Your warnings, as we clearly see.
The breakdown of our cultures; the hate that is on the rise;
The tormenting of one another; the pride and the strife;
The sexual perversions; the adultery and fornications;
The idolatry, lying and deceptions;
All of these have crumbled our foundations.
This is the result of disobedience to You;
Yet we question why things happen as they do;
Knowledge on the rise; true Wisdom on the decline;
No one wants to obey, but everyone wants to shine.
Who do we think we are, Lord?
Forgive us for who we've become.
Teach us again of "One Accord"
Let not our hearts grow numb.
Let the selfish learn to give to another;
As Your Word commands;
Let sister love sister, brother love brother;
Let those who are bitter, make amends.
Forgive us Lord, for choosing the flesh;
And gambling with Your Spirit and Grace;
Make us over Lord, renew and refresh;
From the inside out; a new people, a new face.
