** AMERICAN NURSING SERVICES is another monolithic TEMPORARY STAFFING AGENCY, surgically removing a decent wage and life style for hard working, well intentioned and highly trained nurses.

** Nurses say working conditions in hospitals are driving them out of the profession.

** "We've burned out an entire generation of care givers" [2.2 million registered nurses in 2000 in the U.S., including all the Phillipine and foreign recruits sold here in bondage by agents of commercial immigration].

** Of the 2.6 million registered nurses now in 2001, the average age is 45.2 years and rising. 41% of nurses responding to a recent survey said they were dissatisfied with their job, and 22% were going to say "take this job and shove it" before the end of the year.

Even the nurses themselves are challenging their weak unions to do something, things are so bad. The Massachusetts Nurses Association broke off from the American Nurses Association as a result. The reason: limp, lame, flaccid political moderation, and "business as usual".

The California Nurses Association has announced an alliance with the UNITED STEEL WORKERS OF AMERICA. Go get them girls [and male nurses too] !!

** Presdent "Gigi" Bush wants to cut spending for nurse's education by at least 60%.

** 15 STATES ARE WAKING UP! Fifteen states came out of their coma and woke up to the rampant abuse of forced overtime on nurses. Forced overtime is RAMPANT in the U.S. medical hegemony, and is breaking down industrious nurses through sheer exhaustion, into mere tissue samples. The states are lining up their legal resources to create bills that PROHIBIT forced overtime for nurses.

This website has for TWO SOLID YEARS set off the alarm for the public to do something about these trends. We believe here on our staff that each nurse legally residing in the USA has a pair of testicles GREATER THAN than the doctors and the pharmacists of our Serbian-style corporate landscape. Translation: the doctors and pharmacists have no balls. They have only flies caught in their throats from lack of courage and fear. Next time your nurse does you a favor, let her know. TELL HER you back the nationwide nurse protest against HMO and bottom line profits tyranny!

[...] Congress needs to expand Medicare to cover prescription drugs and leverage the government's purchasing power to negotiate fair prices.

"[...] The Health Care INDUSTRY lobbied the Bush Administration to delay or change the rules, saying they would disrupt routine operations and impose costly burdens on the [health care] industry.

[...] Secretary Thompson described his plans in a speech to the AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF HEALTH PLANS, a trade group for HEALTH MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATIONS [HMOS].

[...] The [patients] privacy rules were to take effect today, with health care providers given two years to come into compliance. Secretary Thompson said the effective date WOULD BE POSTPONED to April 14[.]"

"[...] Consumer advocates vowed to defend ... "the most sweeping privacy protections ever written." But hospitals, health plans and other health care providers said they hoped the new administration would rewrite the rules to lessen the burden on their industry [i.e.] ... new rules requiring doctors, hospitals and other health care providers to obtain WRITTEN CONSENT from patients before disclosing their medical information even for routine purposes like treatment or the payment of claims.

[...] Health care providers will have to retain such consent forms for a minimum of six years ... Most hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies are light-years away from complying with these rules.

[...] Senator Patrick J. Leahy of Vermont ... and Representative Edward J. Markey of Massachusetts, applauded the rules, which are scheduled to take effect in two years, with civil and criminal penalties.

[...] "Requiring written consent is crucial to giving patients meaningful control over the most intimate details of their lives," Mr. Markey said.

[...] Under the rules, patients may ask health care providers to restrict how medical information is used to carry out treatment, payment and "health care operations". In addition, after authorizing the use of information for such purposes, patients may revoke their consent.

[...] John T. Bentivoglio, a lawyer who was chief privacy officer at the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT from 1998 to last July, said: "The new regulations are a tremendous step forward in protecting health privacy"[.]

[...] President Clinton said the rules would limit companies' ability to obtain sensitive medical information for the purpose of marketing. "Recently," he said, "expectant mothers who haven't even told their friends the good news are finding sales letters for baby products in their mailboxes. That's wrong."
