Born: October 28, 1974 in San Juan, Puerto Rico
*Called Leaf as a child because it was easier to say and earthy like his siblings' names
*Has 4 siblings: River, Rain, Liberty and Summer
*Rides a motocycle (ow ow!)
    Joaquin was born to missionaries in Puerto Rico.  That is so awesome.  I was trying to pick somebody for this week and I realized this fact about him and decided he had to be it because I'm trying to figure out if that's what I want to do for a year or two when I graduate.  Oiy vey, long sentence.  I have to admit I know a lot more about Joaquin's brother River than I do about him, but that's okay.  Apparently he was there when River died of his drug overdose.  That's so rough.
     Not only is he beautiful with eyes that could pierce any soul, his life has been amazing.  Because his parents were missionaries, he got to travel all over Central and South America with them.  Wow.  He is quoted as saying, "I remember us being poor, but I never felt embarrassed, or like I missed anything.  I don't remember the hardship of trying to make it, just how my parents managed to get through."  In my life I want happiness.  I want freedom.  I don't care about the earthly stuff (which is a surprise even to me considering my upbringing).  I would love to meet his parents or people like them and talk about their lives.  They had to be pretty awesome people.  Imagine the stories.  I'm just in awe.  Clearly Joaquin is well off these days, so maybe he could fund my life.  I don't need much.  :o)
     It seems as though this has turned into something more contemplative than I meant it to.  I suppose that happens when you get closer and closer to graduation.  Anyway, Joaquin played Johnny Cash in Walk the Line.  While I didn't see it, it's close to my heart because my mom has loved Johnny Cash for a long time.  An interesting thing I learned was that he had to get voice training every day to keep his voice as low as Johnny's.  He is a great actor with an awesome family who has gone through a lot but managed to have really interesting and good lives.  Here's to living for the moment and enjoying every bit of your life!
