Okay, this week's boyfriend has a special place in my heart. It's not because I've seen any movies he's in (because I haven't), it's not because he's especially good looking (although he's grown on me) but it all goes back to senior year Spanish class. Stay with me on this one. We had to make altars in the class to celebrate El Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead (for those of you that don't speak Spanish). My teacher decided that it was perfectly acceptable to do somebody that was alive (even though Dia de los Muertos celebrates dead). The only catch was, they had to be hispanic of some sort. Anyway, being the procrastinator that I am, I could not decide who to do and I had about two days (if I remember correctly) to do the project. So...my friend Heather and I were brainstorming. She decided to do Antonio Banderas. At first I wished I had picked him until I realized I didn't really like him. Well, she decided I should do Andy Garcia even though I had only ever heard his name and he was in the front of our text book (not cool). Well, I finally gave in and made my altar to him. But...that's not the end of the story. I had a giant picture of him from the altar. In fact, it's the top middle picture. I hung it in my locker all year and just looked at the face of the man I did not know. And of course I showed it to everybody since my locker was in the senior lounge and nobody closes their lockers at High Tech. That's my story. Okay, so maybe it's wasn't a very good story...but when I asked Heather who I should do, she told me Andy Garcia, and I decided that if he had a special place in my locker, he should get a special place in my heart and webpage.
As far as personal life goes, he's married to Marivi Lorido Garcia and has four kids with her. Apparently he gained weight with her when she was pregnant...interesting... Also, he was born a conjoined twin, but his twin was only the size of a tennis ball so they just cut it off. How very odd. He came to the U.S. in 1961. Oh yeah! He's been in Ocean's Eleven, The Godfather movies, The Untouchables and a whole bunch of movies I have never heard of, much less seen. Three cheers for the mystery locker man! (Give me a break, I try) |
