I'm sitting here listening to the soundtrack to Rent to give myself inspiration.  If you have ever seen Rent and listened to the song "One Song Glory" you know what I mean when I say that Adam can convey feeling amazingly with his voice.  I love a man who can sing.  I really, really wanted to bring back the boyfriend site with one of the actors in Rent.  Adam's somewhat raspy yet perfectly voice takes me away.  He also has been in Aida and Cabaret.  He was nominated for a Tony Award in 1996 for his role as Roger in Rent.  He is married to a playwright named Cybele Chivian and has two sons under the age of 6 named Lennon Jay and Montgomery Lovell.  Something I love about his look is that he is somewhat rugged but cool.  My friend Paul would laugh at me because Adam clearly doesn't shave.
I'm going to be honest.  My first choice for Rent character was Anthony Rapp, who plays Mark, but alas, he is gay and against the rules.  However, this doesn't mean that I'm settling!  I have been in love with Rent since I saw it on Broadway, and at that time my favorite character was Roger, played by Adam.  When the movie came out I was reminded of this love.  The stories are so poignant.  Adam plays a former band front man who is stricken with HIV.  His girlfriend also had it but she died.  He is now alone realizing his mortality and trying to write one song that will be his legacy.  He also is struggling with the decision to allow himself to love again when he knows that HIV will take his life and hers.
Rent has many characters and many different stories that are all brought together in their struggle to live a "bohemian lifestyle."  It deals with drugs, sex, HIV, homosexuality, death, and love.  I recommend this to anybody that can go into it with an open mind and has an appreciation for musical theatre.  It inspires me in ways I can't describe.
