Ottershaw Kyokushinkai is a part of the British Kyokushinkai Karate, and a member of the IFK (International Federation of Karate).
Karate in its literal translation means 'empty hand'. The word 'Kyoku' means 'ultimate. 'Shin' means truth and reality, and 'Kai' to meet / join / associate.
Kyokushinkai is known as the 'strongest karate' because of its 'full-contact' fighting style.
The origins of Kyokushin Karate can be traced back many hundreds of years, and allthough modern training methods have changed, we still follow the traditional teachings which have survived through the centuries.
Kata is a fundamental part of karate training, and the true karateka is not only a fighter, but a person who practices with sincerity all the karate disciplines.
When you begin training in karate you begin a journey: a journey that has a goal but no end.
