OTTERBEIN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
100th ANNIVERSARY
1901 - 2001

Otterbein Church was founded in 1901 as a United Brethren in Christ Church.  It then became the First Evangelical United Brethren in 1946 and renamed Otterbein United Methodist Church in 1968.  Following a merger with the Methodists, it was renamed to honor Philip William Otterbein, a German missonary and pastor who sailed to the Amercian colornies in 1752.  He was then elected the first Bishop of the United Brethren in Christ Church in 1800.  The Central Methodist congregation united with Otterbein Church in 1974.
