Christmas 2000
It's been a busy year. Elliot is still home schooled
(4th grade) and Eric is a 1st grader
in public school.
Jim is still working at home (but has decided
that there are definite disadvantages) - like going swimming any time he
wants, not having to fight traffic, etc.* (*Monica's comments)
Monica is busy with teaching, volunteering at
Church and School and of course, "beloved" housework.
Elliot and Eric are halfway towards their black
belts in Taekwondo and they both take
gymnastics, choir and piano lessons. They are
also both in the Awana program (Christian scouts).
Jim finished adding a room to the house early
this year and built an electronic finish line for the
Pinewood Derby races in March.
We skied the Galloping Goose in Winter Park,
CO in January.
The whole family vacationed in the Pacific Northwest
(Oregon, Washington and Vancouver BC)
in June, where Monica's sister & family lives-OR.
Jim also hiked Pike's Peak in Colorado and Mount
Defiance in Oregon this summer, where he came "head on" -literally speaking
- with a rock thrown down by some "thoughtful" hiker :( Missed him by an
inch.
The whole year we enjoyed our seasonal, Disney
passes. In December they even had snow (shaving cream, that is, but we'll
take any snow here in Florida, with 70 F weather :)
Talking about Florida, we need to specify that
we live in SEMINOLE County and we know how to read, punch ballots, count,
etc. :) Just in case you wondered...
We hosted a German exchange student for a couple
of months this summer (Hi Dorethea!).
We'll all be in Iowa for Christmas and New Year
(we're hoping for a mountain of snow!).
May this Christmas bring a wonderful time of love
and peace in your home. Jesus Christ is the reason for our joy! Let's celebrate
his coming with thanksgiving and rejoice in the wonder of His love.
Every year, His love amazes me more. I couldn't
wait to escape Communist Romania to come to US, which, "earthly speaking",
is as close to Heaven as you could get. How could God leave His perfect
Heaven to come and humble Himself as a baby, in a manger, deal with smelly
animals, but even worst, deal with sinners, just to give us one more chance?!
This is the wonder of Christmas! Let's ponder on it and not get too
"wrapped up" in the Christmas frenzy, this year.
